Still On Board?

BMD wanted Mensa gone because he wasn't winning enough and they hated all the woke ******** that was going on, both on and off the field.

They wanted Urban and when that fell apart CDC was in a corner. He couldn't keep Herman and couldn't get Urban so he settled for a guy with a bunch of good press, but with less than stellar head coaching pedigree.

Besides all of that, I think there are a decent amount of players on this team who are a cancer in one form or another and them graduating or hitting the portal won't make me sad.

All that is to say that I'm more or less checked out on this season. This team is a basket case and I'm hoping Sark can salvage a decent recruiting class, hit the portal hard to get some experienced players that fit his style and temperament and give the team a shot to succeed next season.

McWilliams was fired, err reassigned, after being given an extension the previous year. Macovic came from Illinois not Michigan State. I don't give a crap about who did what in '57. If CDC let "educrats" affect his decision he should be fired.

Willie Cunningham and his mafia came from Michigan State and he single handedly hired Mackovic, and filled the administration with Michigan State rejects,

I am afraid this job is way too big to learn “on the job”
I used to get frustrated with Mack for not being enough of an Xs and Os guy.
i always thought he was a great CEO but if only he could prepare better game plans or had the stones to bring in better coordinators no one could ever stop us.

so when strong got hired I thought “a football coach- just what we need”
Completely took for granted how hard it must be to run a program of this size and how masterful Mack was at it.

Ever since then this program has been CEOed by phonies.

I have since come around the the notion that Texas just needs a proven HC that can run a program.
    Sarkisian is a proven coordinator.
Naming him a head coach does not make him one.
I used to cringe at the idea of a Utban Meyer or Sabin coming here.
Next hire we make needs to be one of those types. And until one is available there is no sense in firing Sarkisian.

Many said we should go after Patterson and then he gets fired.

Saban said he turned down Texas bc he didn’t want BMD’s telling him how to run the program.

I don’t care if we won 5 natty’s in a row - I would never want the slimey Meyer at Texas.

I hope Sark figures it out and can keep top Texas players in Texas. We’ve missed on the last 24 of 26 on top Texas players from what I read today.

Is it meddling, BLD’s, educrats, pet monkeys, wokeness, I don’t know I’m just sick of the mediocrity for so long.

I am confused mostly over one thing. When I watched last year’s Mythical National Championship game I thought the offensive game plan and play selection was one of the best I had seen . Was Sark behind that? Where did it go? I fully understand the talent gap but where is the creativity. If ever it was needed it is now, yet he runs predictable plays between tackle, sometimes twice in a row for short gains. I would love to see his offensive genius showcased the rest of the year. If he can hang 70 on Tech he can roll a few more under.

Some games he went balls to the wall on offense and then it all goes downhill when the turtle seems to stick his head in his shell. Announcer after announce say Sark is one of the best offensive minds in college football and a good developer of quarterbacks. I hope so. It should be an asset for recruiting. But we will need to see more of it on the field and it ain’t happening. Here’s hoping.

With the talent of 2020 Bama, execution is expected. This season, many times, it shows Sark pissed likes he’s saying - I can’t believe these guys can’t run that play.

I would really like to know where that ******** came from, because that is exactly what it is. Find the moron who reported that, bring him to me so I can tell him face to face that he's full of **** as a Christmas turkey, so he should not give up his day job at 7-11 or McDonalds

    Great topic.

Texas Football is in my DNA so being “on board” is a given. However,

My expectations for Sark have have been reduced considerably. I really believed that he possessed a skill set that would immediately translate into an upgrade this season. With the Arkansas game came the realization that perhaps my expectations were unrealistic. With what I have seen over the past four game, my and everyone’s worst fears have been realized.

My expectations have been lowered considerably and I now tend to believe that unless Sark can a) attract multiple top five classes, AND until he b) lands a transcendent talent at QB like VY, Manning or perhaps Ewers, our ceiling will be something like 10 wins a year.

I hope that SabreHorn is wrong about “in my lifetime,” but he may not be. Sark does not appear to be the game changer that many of us had hoped for. Let’s hope he grows into it…

No. He was brought in to prepare Texas for the $EC West. Strong's and Herman's recruits were soft mentally and,in some cases, way over rated. Herman's antics on and off the field gave CdC the bandwidth to make the move despite the won/ loss and bowl records.

Sark's answer to the Joshua Moore question today says all you need to know.

Absolutely on board. Any organizational culture change is difficult, and does not happen overnight. Or even in a year or two (even though I'd really LIKE it to)...

George Bailey No beans in my chili, thank you

I am on board. I guess I'll just have to wait out the change, I have no option. I wanted to win this year. But when you've recruited 7 on 7 players for years, this is what you're going to get.

On board with Sark? Yes, so far. I hate the results this season. Our guys, who maybe were good players when they were 17, have shown this stage is too big for them. Quite simply, on 50-50 plays we don't make 'em. So Sark needs to recruit well these next two seasons. If we don't show major improvement by his third season, I won't be on board anymore.
There is something wrong with this group of kids. Frankly, (and I don't think Texas is alone in this) these kids just don't seem to mind losing. As long as their personal stat line is decent they seem happy. Must be a millennial thing.

I'm on board..............we got to realistically give this guy a couple of years minimum to up grade the craptastic OL and DL we got...........Vince Young and Earl Campbell would have trouble behind this bunch.

So here’s a wild thought, what if we have a group of serious malcontents that go hard for one half to show how good they could be then back down second half out of contention. Maybe they are against Sark, maybe because they don’t like Herman getting canned, maybe - who knows?
I’m not saying I believe this but if we lose to Kansas I’m not so sure.
Wild thought but I am unable to explain this year so bringing in some wild speculation.

For me, it's not am I on board or not on board with Sark, I am on board with the notion that we cannot keep swapping coaches every 3-4 years. If Sark can win 6-7 games per season and take us to bowl games, I think we have to be patient and keep him around a good while. The number of coaches and coordinators and such that we have run through in the past 7-8 years is frightening to me.

If there is a CDC bandwagon, that's the one I am on. I trust him to make it right in the end. He got us Dr Pepper at the concession stands after I asked him to in his first year so the guy is Superman in my eyes.

I agree 6721, but I felt the same when Strong proved me wrong and we lost to Kansas after scoring on our first play from scrimmage.
It’s just all so strange this year I was thinking wild thoughts.

Yes Exactly "Strange". It is not like the team is outplayed from the opening kick off.
I can only imagine what Sark is going through.
Unless he is an axxhole to the players I would think they would love playing for him.
Weird thought, could there be leaders on the team who get the team to deliberately fall apart in second half.
    Once a fluke?
    Twice a coincidence ?
    Third time a pattern?
    Fourth time WTH?

I personally believe there are many things in play....BUT I believe one is we attract quite a few kids that come here with the same sense of glam and I've made it and entitlement that we at large have had.
Just like the fans...I'm at Texas...big bad Texas....and we are about to be back any moment and I am going to be a part if it.
Well...stuff just doesn't work like that. You/we have to be nothing before you can be something great. Like I said before...a hungry dog....going to fight tooth and nail for every single scrap until it is earned.
We aren't that, we don't have that and, for the most part, we dont attract guys like that. I suspect we've been getting a lot of guys who buy into the same thing the fans and overall culture reflects in that we are glorious and more glory is right upon us...should be easy for "someone like us."
    We're Texas!!
Nah...we aren't..and they won't taste it thinking like that. They should strip those 10k lockers out and everything else and say whatever we/you've thought of Texas is dead and buried and recruit some guys who have a junk yard dog mentality. Quit playing like you have everything to lose. You don't have anything. We don't have anything. There is nothing and we are nothing.
Now, are you ready to fight for something?

I am thinking we need to take a different tack in recruiting. Instead of asking a coach who his best player is, ask him which player(s) like to be coached hard and will elevate their play in response to it.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

    Yes, exactly.

I would add: who are the leaders / warriors / passionate players, etc. The guys that like to hit, that want to win?

The guys being overlooked by recruiters. These are some of the same gems Patterson and other coaches have found.

Maybe we should hire Patterson to evaluate players and coach defense. He will show emotion on the sideline and chew butts,

No offensive line, no QB, few WRs, no LBers, thin DL

we are in a serious rebuilding year. I don’t think those of you who want to hate on the players’ effort or attitude are honest with yourselves about how low we are on talent.

the idea that these kids are throwing games out of spite is just dumb. Sorry

are we 4-5 bad? No but this team was taking a big step back talent wise from last years’ team,

Of course on board. Not pleased with the results, but confident the culture will get fixed. I thought we had gotten past the cancer that was last season. Regardless, I’ll be in Morgantown in a couple weeks.
