Not sure what you mean by "last minute transfers". The "new" transfers which are entering the portal are those who enrolled at their respective schools for the Fall semester (like Precious Johnson). I assume these transfers will finish out the Fall semester at their current schools. Even if they are at their new schools come Spring 2022, I don't believe they will be eligible to play until the following 2022-23 season.
You answered my question. I wasn’t sure if a student athlete could join after the deadline expires and still expect to play the same year, especially during these unusual times. Thank y’all for the info!
Well, these days, there are certain exception situations which could lead to a waiver for immediate eligibility during Spring 2022. All these accusations/situations of player abuse by coaches comes to mind.
I'd think with the 1-time transfer rule, they'd be immediately eligible for any games during the spring semester but that wouldn't make much sense for a young, developmental player like Precious.
For that one-time transfer rule to ensure immediate eligibility for the 2021-22 season, they needed to be entered into the transfer portal by July 1, 2021. That date is long past. I believe that date was to ensure players wouldn't be transferring left and right during the academic school year and being able to play immediately at their new school.

Based on the new transfer rules/portal deadline, I assume this will be a 2022 transfer. Freshman from Mesquite Horn is already out at Mississippi State:
She was consistently in the top 10-15 until the last recruiting rankings came out and she dropped to 30. Did not get on the floor in the game against arky.
