This would have been the year for Bijan with basically no front runner after this weekend.

Does anyone still care about that overhyped award?

If the year had turned out as we hoped and Bijan won it , then we would. Otherwise, no.

I quit caring about it in 2005.

    I feel the same.
It is an award for a really good player- with the caveat that he must be on a great team. Not predicated on the best player- the team is just as important.
I really don’t watch it anymore.

it’s a beauty contest that doesn’t always get the best player right (2005 Bush over Vince was a travesty).

that aside, it’s either the Michigan State running back or the Bama QB. Both showed up yesterday in critical, highly watched games. It’s those two guys ahead of any others at this point.

If Alabama wins the SEC game, and their QB has a good game, he will probably win it. Either him or the MSU running back as others have said, and the RB has no more chances to shine before it's voted on.

It's not like any of the voters watch them play

They don't, so it's who ever ESPN hypes up.

Maybe this is the year for a non QB, RB, WR to win it.

Bama QB was terrible Sat. Yes, he had a good drive when they needed it, but if the Auburn back just slides in bounds, none of that happens. Luck should not win you a heisman.

If Haskins has a huge CCG...he may slide in there on late momo and big stage performance vs Ohio St.
Some saying their Dlineman (Aiden Hutchinson) may get an invite.
That would probably put Haskins, Corral or Stroud, Hutchinson, and Young (though I dont think he deserves it at all).
In that scenario Haskins likely wins if voters split on QBs or Young wins on name rec and Bama rep. I do not view him as deserving at all...but the competition is weak.
This weeks CCGs will likely give clarification.

Sorry, but the few times I've seen Bama this year, I have NOT been impressed with their QB.

That said, the Alabama SID & publicity department are remarkable.

I believe CCG performances will give it to Hutchinson, Young. or Haskins.
Hard for me to see Young going nuts (or just winning even) vs UGA...but anything is possible..
Iowa pretty good on D so Haskins may not go off.
Not hard at all to see Hutchinson having a monster game vs Iowa.
I know I'll get poop for this but could be another "Nadakuh Suh" year...though Aiden is up North.

What about Old Miss QB Corral. Seems like he's a real winner.

I think after Suh didn't win, it's official that defenders aren't eligible.

FWIW, there have been more than a few uninspiring winners in the past:

    Since 1992 -

    Mark Ingram (Good, but great?)
    Jason White (who?)
    Chris Weinke
    Danny Wuerffel
    Gino Torretta
