This is the second dumb move he has made. He could have started next year, now all we have left at CB is Jamison, Crawford, and possibly Barron and J.J. but I think one of those may be a safety? All the more reason we need Denver Harris and several portals like Wells.
This is a misdemeanor charge. Other players have been in similar situations and not released so time will tell. The statute of limitations is 3 years but the information lists the date of the offense as 8-2018. This was filed beyond the statue of limitations. Either a clerical error or the case should be dismissed. Thank goodness we still had some balancing when I was a kid. Was hauled to jail several times on stupid stuff but then released to parents. Today I would have been locked up and my career path would have been denied. We cant keep branding for life every kid (especially minority) that makes a mistake. The social cost to the nation is too great. IT was wrong, stupid- whatever name you want to put on it but from my experience-- there is more to the story than what was printed in the article. (Why randomly send it to only one guy? The girl was aware of the tape-she says she didn't know about it at the time it was made- possible and possibly not true) I am not taking up for the kid, justifying what he did or saying he should not suffer consequences. I am sayin he is a KID and some consideration of that fact should go into the equation.
To me, there is a difference to doing something that affects your own life and whatever the consequences may bring versus affecting other people. I'll judge when the facts are all brought out... Not saying anyone else is prejudging.
Nexile? Ibraheem is a 2020 commit isn't he ? Where does it say the incident happened in 2018? He would have been a sophomore in HS. This is all confusing. Ibraheem sent the vid, then unsent it. The OSU player never saw it. ???
The article has very little information and is confusing. The 2018 date comes from the ‘information’ - the charging document filed by the District Attorney. It could be a clerical error but would be unusual. OSCN Case Details Look under counts
Nexile Thanks. That date makes no sense in the context of the charges being brought in Ok . In 2018 Ibraheem would have been starting high school as a sophomore or junior here in Dallas,
Sort of funny that personal injury lawyers will now be targeting NIL folks. All that money will end up in the pockets of lawyers (tax, trial, personal injury, etc). Welcome to the real world.
If he did it, give him the boot. I’m tired of pampered athletes being treated differently. We’re not Baylor.
Wouldn't want a little thing called "due process" to get in the way. Sorry, I lived through the Tony Edwards lynching before the midget confessed. I'll pass.
Making it more confusing is that the statute references it being a felony, which would open doors to a lengthier limitations period. Also opening the door to a lengthier period is if the victim was a minor and this was deemed to fall into a sexual offense against a child category...
Add to this— Tulsa and Oklahoma City are about 100 miles each direct and the only real newspaper and media outlasts in the state. the contempt and bias for Texas is intense. Normally scores are only box score- unless we lose. In this case neither media had printed or broadcast anything about this that I have seen. It easily could be a front page story in Tulsa sports section for its negative nature against Texas. A lot of unanswered questions. (Normally the detailed charge would be online but not for a sex related case)
I won't speak to the news there, but in many jurisdictions, the big story doesn't run until the perp walk takes place. This was why I had one case that we arranged the bond and hit the jail just before midnight on a self-surrender walk-through. Since processing would not be done until a few minutes after midnight, it would also mean two days of calendar credit despite only being a half-hour at most in the building. We chose midweek since the drunks and wife-beaters would not be clogging the process. Strategery.
mb, I had a great employee, who had trouble keeping her mouth shut. On multiple occasions, I was at the Harris County Jail in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, your ploy got interrupted when Harris County decided to "update software". She went in at 1130, but the "upgrade" shut down the computers & processing until after 1 pm the next day.
