Supposedly QE's signing was going to inspire some big time wrs to come over to us. I don't know. There is still time. But why do i have this nagging feeling its not going to happen. We may get lesser studs however. That's alright as long as they are fast. Perhaps Savion Red is like that
That's how brady made his living, throwing to scatbacks coming across the middle for 6 yards then they turn it into a 15 or twenty or TD.

Stars or offers. Not sure and/or Amendola (sp) had any of either.

Right now Card has a leg up on the starting job due to experience and familiarity with the system. Whichever QB has that internal moxie and confidence knowing that whatever he attempts to do will be successful is the QB we need. Card fell flat on his face at first (some blamed that on the o-line which was convenient but mostly bogus). He was in such dire straits sometimes he just threw the ball haphazardly. But he seemed to get over his fears and looked more confident toward the end. We will see who he is.

That’s disappointing because by all accounts I heard they are recruiting him to play D and he wanted to give receiving a go.

Yes, it’s a little disappointing not getting 5* WR’s but I keep looking at our haul of OL & DL and I get over it fast!

I heard we got OL Dunlap from Minnesota, I’d like to get 2 more experienced OL transfers to solidify line for next year while new pups learn. With our stable of RBs We could be a run heavy team with a serviceable passing game

Sark was up working late last night… sounds like we got one in the house, might be a delayed Feb announcement

Quite possibly the funniest thing ever posted on this website! I figure Card will portal out just like Thompson. His playing days are over at UT.

Not sure there has ever been a QB with worse pocket presence than Card.

I would not give up on Card yet, he needs to find his footing. VY struggled early, lots of fan talk about moving him to WR but he ended up pretty freaking good. Let’s see if Sark can work his magic on Card and make him a play-ah.

Imagine that, a freshman with pocket issues with one of the worst offensive lines in the history of UT. I saw flashes from him even though his season was mostly bad. I'm not sure why you would think Ewers would come in and be anointed the starter. If Card stays I'll bet he competes his *** off for the job and yes the experience in the system will give him a leg up. If it's Ewers then so be it, but Card was one of the top QB's in the country so I wouldn't give up on him just yet.

Our OTs blocking the opponents’ edge speed rushers. Fix that alone, and we’re good for about 3 more wins next year.

If QE isn’t the starter in September I’ll be shocked. He gets to scrimmage against ULM on the 3rd, then it’s the big time with Bama on the 10th.

Its not a given to me that QE starts. I havent seen him play. I have only heard about his measurables. I am looking forward to the QB competition. Card's play and confidence improved at the end of last season. He is more accumstomed to the speed of the game. I believe, ìf he sticks around, he will give QE a run for his money. Murphy to me is solid 3rd string until he surprises. If Card leaves that could be disastrous. Well i guess we could get an experienced transfer....maybe.

If QE isn't the starter in September, it will prove once and for all that the recruiting rankings (5-Star, 4-Star, etc.) are a fraud. I'm not sure what people saw in Card. I must have dosed off during the games.

Both Card and QE have strong arms. Both can run.
Its just a matter of reading the defense and the blitzes and being confident to make the adjustment.

I have seen nothing to suggest that Card can give anyone a run for their money. Little pocket presence. No clock in his head. He’s a deer in the headlights…so far. Sure, he made a few throws, but more often he melted down. Is there no hope for Card? Perhaps not. But for these eyes, I’ll believe it when I see it.

Unless QE absolutely stinks it up in the spring and also the fall camp, he will be the starter. Now, if Casey had stayed, I would have put the odds of CT starting against LMU at better than 50/50.

This is another epic “Class of Beef” on both sides of the trenches.
But I tell you what, these secondary recruits may end up even more impressive by the time their Longhorn playing days are all said and done.

Allen = ballhawk and sledge hammer

Brooks = ballhawk with phenomenal closing speed; good run support too

Guilbeau = very good coverage man

    Jordan = ballhawk, good tackler

Lewis = very good coverage man

Card's deficiency was mental. Yes he froze in battle at the beginning. Fix that then he will be a quality starter. Some want to put him out to pasture. I am not quick to do that.
Last season was his first taste of battle.
Just like teams get better after game one, QBs get better after season one.(VY)
I am just saying that Card will compete and everyone should be hoping for that.

You answered your own unasked question. Whatever Todd taught Hudson about reading defenses did not move from with him from 360 to San Jacinto.

I agree and Card is a great practice player. He just needs to let the game slow down for him. I still think Ewers will be the starter.

Are you talking about Todd Dodge? He's at Westlake. Card's from Lake Travis.

Next year. OL and DL is what we needed most (besides TE of course).

But we need pass pro when the defense over commits to stopping the run.

Card improved over the year regarding pocket presence. Continued improvement in that area can make a big difference.
