Watts is now 6 foot 3 and weighs 205 pounds. I hope he can stay at corner.

Writeup by a Midwest mod during Watts HS recruitment.

"Huge cornerback prospect with elite frame relative to the position. Possesses outstanding height and length. Owns college-ready size, yet still plenty of space to add more bulk. Built like a basketball player. Flashes impressive turn-and-bail ability, especially relative to frame. Fairly light and nimble in his backpedal. Large wingspan aids in disrupting passing windows and catch point. Almost limitless ceiling as a jammer because of size/length/strength potential. Should present a tough customer in the red zone. Strong tester — verified 4.5 40, 4.20 shuttle, 38-inch vertical. Generally uses arm extension well. Not afraid to mix it up in press. Can improve strength, particularly to aid in run support and tackle power. Doesn’t always play to size as a tackler. More of a cutter than a hitter. Can improve ball skills. Needs to more consistently maximize high-pointing ability on contested throws. Just coming into his own, but possesses unusual tools for a high-major corner prospect. Definite Power Five starter with NFL Draft ceiling with proper development."

Seems like watts could be a LB if he gains some weight. Would he consider that?

He could play dime on day one, and replace Cook at nickel after next year. Or safety like others have said.

Very impressive young man. If his composure, confidence and maturity translates to the field at Texas he’ll be a good one.

I know one whose actually pretty reasonable but he also lives in Austin and roots for Texas when they aren't playing eachother.

Some notes from other boards and mods.
    I'll paraphrase them here:

    1. Saban passed on several targets so he would have more room for portal players. Says Saban has been actively recruiting players on other teams via other players and contacts.

    2. Jacoby Matthews may indeed fall into our lap. Saban stopped pushing some time ago. Kelly is not being well received in Cajunville. We may win by default. Doesn't happen often.

    3. Thinks Campbell already signing is likely reflected in Belmont's sudden hush on the subject.

    4. LTG, Abor, Campbell, and Matthews are the only recruitments being taken seriously. Thinks there may be one or two others that pop up.

    5. Seems to be lots of confidence with UT's targets in the portal, especially at WR.

Who are our WR portal targets? When are we finalizing a WR coach?

Jacob Cowing from UTEP. He's been one of the better WRs in the nation this year. Supposedly he and Texas are talking.

Look under December 21 there. Impressive to say the least. Imagine him and Worthy on the field at the same time.

If we get these players, don’t we pass Ohio St and basically tied with Bama and Ga for 2nd best class?

This total class is shaping up to be quite remarkable. I'm stoked.
I just got to remember that everyone else is restocking also.
This team looks to be totally different than last year and that gruntles me.

So, I have a grammatical question. Does one gruntle, or does one become gruntled? Enquiring minds want to know...

In the overall rankings which include 2022 recruits and portal players we are ahead of Ohio state currently. We would have to close on fire in order to pass Georgia. We would need Campbell, Matthews, Abor, LTG, Perkins, Earnest Greene, and Kevin Coleman. That would put us around 316. Georgia is currently at 311 and Bama is 321. Somebody call the big money donors and make this happen

It works either way. Gruntle is a verb. Gruntled is an adjective.

I don't get too excited when players from other FBS schools transfer. Are they transferring due to being passed up on the depth chart or character issues? I didn't really follow the Buckeyes this year, but if tOSU fans are pissed at him transferring then I guess that means it's good for us. I just don't want to claim him the next Jalen Ramsey for now.

I normally don't see that as "the next..."

But several of ours are, at least, potentially good starters imo...
    Ayodele
    Cooks
    Owens
    Wiley
    Moore

Sometimes a change of scenery is good for a career. Puts a fire under them. Hoping it's true of the ones we get.

George Bailey No beans in my chili, thank you

It's the offseason, so it's my right to pump sunshine. I'll also wait until July to do so.

But with this class, the potential gets, the portals (in & out), I am stoked to see how different this team is going to look next year.
