So as someone who does not have the LHN - did KSU play well or is this collection of players we have not really a team yet?

I think I accidentally deleted the last KSU game thread. Oops…

My take is that we leaned too much offensively on a few guys—Carr, Allen. Also, Jones was ice cold. Ramey didn’t stand out. Mitchell was just so-so. I saw it as one of those hard fought close, and sort of ugly, games that we blew in the last few minutes.

I’d put offensive team chemistry at around 3.5 — 4 out of 10.
    Slightly concerned, but not worried.

We need some nifty plays/set plays for our half court offense.

Just my opinion, but what we need is more "TEAM" and less "me".

What little I've seen looks like five guys on a playground with no common mindset, and definitely no chemistry

This team reminds me on the Oklahoma City thunder with Durant and Westbrook. Never had a chance to win it all because the offense consisted of handing the ball to the two scorers and everyone else standing around. No ball movement. At all

I listened to the game. Andrew Jones and Ramey had their worst shooting games of the year. Couldn’t get one to drop. Meanwhile ksu had one of their best 3 point shooting games. A one point loss is a gut punch anytime. But to have two of our top offensive weapons go ice cold is to hard to overcome when ksu is making 3’s.
I think this will even out and the Horns win enough to get into the tournament and win a game or two there. In Beard I trust.

Ramey and Jones just need to move on. We can't have this much inconsistency game to game and week to week. There's absolutely no game plan for either of them, and no effort on either side of the ball when the shots aren't falling.

I feel bad for Allen. Pretty much a wasted year.

We're giving opponents so many opportunities that just wouldn't have happened with last year's team. Whether it's a 30-second possession followed by an offensive rebound and putback, or yet another 4-minute stretch without a basket. Beard doesn't have the personnel for what he wants, and it's similar to Coach K on the football team. He's not going to alter the plan, so we need to get players that'll fit rather than make changes on the fly.

With so many new players portaling in chemistry was my biggest concern coming into the season.

Kudos to grad assistant/player Licon for some quality minutes in the first half and some good D.

Maybe Beard gets them together in time for the conference tournament and to force their way into the dance. Seeing a different Longhorn team then would please me immensely

Right. Last year’s team had some incredibly athletic big men who could rebound like mad. Too bad they went to the nba instead of staying one more year.

Sound familiar: 6 minutes without a bucket at end of 1H, No half court offensive execution near end of game 3 times in a row to close game.

Did Shaka come back in the form of a white guy?

Texas was a football school; then became a basketball school; baseball preseason 1 means finally a baseball school?

Sports talk saying there is still way too much subbing going on and players being yanked immediately after one mistake. I don't disagree with that. Kind of hard to get consistency when every couple game minutes the lineup is being changed.

However it seems like Beard is having a hard time defining "the starters" and by that I mean the main 5 who would run the team with the rest subbing for rest.

^^^That has to improve. And it will. Watch Beard’s post ksu presser.
Every big 12 team is physically and mentally tough. Beard knows how to coach up toughness. Every game is going to be a street fight. The team will get tougher.
