Dicker "The Kicker" confirms he has entered the NFL Draft and will skip final year of eligibility at Texas
I guess there was no NIL money in being the talented Dicker the Kicker who just wanted some liquor. Sadly, this blow to the ticker will lead some to bicker...I just hope the replacement does not make us feel sicker as we seek the replacement at kicker...
Dicker is a heckuva kicker Tucker to aggy was a mother *ucker Dixon is fixin to pin your *** to the goal line And Dawson beat UVA by kicking crosswin’
Does he have any talented siblings named Dunter, Dackler, or Duarterback? How about Deft Guard, or maybe Deceiver?
Kinda crazy looking at these kicking stats. Justin Tucker is barely a footnote in Texas statistical history. Texas Longhorns football statistical leaders - Wikipedia
Honestly, I thought he had already announced so this wasnt surprising. He has great career ahead in NFL and will be one that teams place value on since he can be both kicker and punter at next level. Will continue the great tradition of Texas kickers in the NFL.
i could feel what you were doing but kept looking. Then read it out loud for the full effect. lol I rarely giggle out loud from the interwebs. thank you
I wish him well but I thought that while he has a strong leg, he doesn't have great accuracy for a top tier kicker. He's at 76% in the listings, but you would have to dive into the details of that for a full assessment. There's probably some ranking system set up where under 30 gives you X points for a FG, then 30-40 Y points, etc. for sort of a QB ranking for kickers. I've always been surprised how little kickers are valuated in both college and pro ball, compared to the drooling that goes on for some DT or LB. Besides the QB, I'd say kicker is the next most important position on the team. How many games are won or lost by the quality of a kicker?
Not just games won or lost...there have been years where some teams pretty much relied on the kicker for the offense...they could move the ball at will, but once they hit the red zone, they just stunk the joint up something fierce. So out came the small guy with a funny name to put up three points...back in the days when coaches were smart enough to realize that SOME points were better than NO points. I suspect Dicker is one of those who will be better at the next level with respect to accuracy, even taking into account the narrower goal posts. Sometimes, I think those wide hashes in college set some kickers up for failure as they over-think the angles.
Or teams with bad kickers, who have to do things like go for it on the 25 with 6 yards to go, with a low chance of it working. Punters too - think about how many games UT flushed via a collection of horrible punters, where you were thankful if the other team got the ball 35 yards away.
I'm kind of curious about this too. I suspect his average attempt distance is longer than most. We score a lot of points and during his time with Herman it felt like we almost always went for it instead of kicking when we were in fg range. My personal perception is that most of his attempts before this year was 40+ yds. If that's true 76% would be pretty dang good.
