    1. This could be the year Coach PK turns into a genius.

    2. Patterson’s skill at evaluating high school talent will be beneficial.

Good hire. Since Gary is really good at beating the Horns, maybe he can explain to our coaches what not to do.

    X,

I have posted some years back about the privilege of meeting with Bob Stoops. He told us about his "interview" with Steve Spurrier. He said that during a tour of the facilities in Gainesville Spurrier stopped and pointed down the field and said, "That's your end of the field; those are your 55 players. I don't know **** about defense, I don't want to know **** about defense. Your job is to get me the ball back. See you on the sideline Saturdays".

Maybe there is some of Sark's desire in that comment. I have said for 16 years that Mack Brown owes that trophy and a NC ring to Dick Tomey. Hoping Sark gives one to Patterson, who would NEVER have taken the DC job, and probably not our HC's job.

From what I've seen coach PK can't think on his feet during a game. The D gets worse as the game goes on. He's outmatched between the ears.

Unless someone takes his headset away from him, I don't see this working out. It's like Ted Williams handing Mario Mendoza a bat and saying "this instrument can hit .400 if you're like me". PK is no Gary Patterson.

Sark said that he will be more involved in the defense. Hiring Patterson was a step in that direction. Coach K had better listen up, or he will find himself back in the PAC-12 (or worse).

Yup Viper, one would think CDC hiring Patterson would send a clear message to Coach K... writing is on the wall pal. D better be MUCH better than 2021 or you will looking for another job.

    Pickle_Nuts Will travel with tickets.

I heard last week GP was fairly outspoken about the Texas BOR and their over reach into all things including football as well as his disdain for UT BMD. Has anyone else heard anything like this?

CDC would be able to overcome these points obviously but just some Tuesday Morning fodder.

Gary Patterson was able to overcome the callous indifference of the Tarrant County business community and establish record donations and involvement to rebrand TCU.

While we do not have many, if any (ok a couple) of Bum Bright types, I am confident that CDC and Patterson can handle them. After all, this is no longer the Pro DKR/anti Fred vs Pro Fred/leave us alone DKR war.

I actually thought of that! I was voted Coach of the Year, for a 1st and 2nd grade team roughly 30 years ago

As shocking as this will be, I have no affiliation with Sark.
But- I think this might be Patterson giving advice to a really good DC on defending the B12 offenses.

And i think i am qualified to coach the longhorns because i coached the powder puff freshman girls flag football to victory over the upper class at the college i attended!
This had never been done before!
So on the basis of this monumental accomplishment, this major achievement i am putting in my application for future consideration.

I didn't apply because I want to be in the press box with a headset Sark & K.

I’m serious in that I almost applied. I would love to get a rejection letter from UT to hang on my wall.
I would claim discrimination based upon me not being considered based upon my experience and age.

That would be an awesome experience. Just to sit upstairs and watch and listen.

For ten years I told Fred all I wanted was a headset during the game, but a microphone was mandatory.

Yeah I was watching my son’s Little League team play and the defense was pursuing every sweep so I did something I swore I’d never do. I told the coach if you do a double reverse the back sides wide-open.

He did it. It wasn’t. I apologize and told him he never hear a peep out of me again and he just smiled

Exactly! And I am unanimous on this. Our D gave up 57 points in a loss to Kansas, yes . . . KANSAS! At home. That was despicable to be polite about it. I believe GP will help get our D get headed in the right direction and help PK get is mind right and his head screwed on properly. I expect solid improvement when the D is on the field in 2022.

Maybe we can get some better halftime adjustments with GP's assistance.

I have heard rumors, some distant rumblings, that some coaches will try to make plans to thwart the opponent's success. And this happens ofttimes during the mid game break when players are resting from their labors of the first two quarters of what is called "American football". Some of these teams do not make these mysterious changes very well or at all.
And we shall not name names like the longhorns for example.:smokin:

When a DC has a 2-4 base defense that just doesn't compute in my mind.
I know the game has changed a lot since I played, and I don't understand the nuances of the passing game game which was mostly nonexistent when I lined up as a defensive end in our 6-2-3 defense, but a 2-4? Now I know how Kansas put 57 on our ***. BTW the defensive end in the 6-2 didn't have his hand on the ground and could drop back and help defend the 6 or seven passes we would see a game.
