Self destructing yet again. This was ours to win. Harmon with careless turnovers. NOW Vic puts Hunter in. Should have a long time ago. I don’t get it. We are horrible offensively.
Completely outcoached and outplayed in the third quarter. Cullen made a bunch of half-time adjustments; not sure Vic made any (with an 8 point lead). This was the season we had the ability to not only beat Baylor once (due to them only having 2 days rest after losing to OU at home), but sweep them Big 12 conference championship hopes are over; will be hard to get a Top 16 seed unless we beat both OU and ISU at home, and KSU on the road. Road wins at WVU, Tech, and Kansas won't be easy.
Stupid fouls, stupid turnovers and missed FT at the worst possible time. Damn this team is frustrating.
Shay is not slow at all. She’s done a great job guarding and Warren did a great job guarding Smith. Both are also great at help-side defense which everyone else seems to be clueless about. Both also attack the glass offensively and just hustle every play. Texas is clearly in a big time slump right now and Vic’s subbing strategy is very questionable at the moment and whatever we’re doing now is not working as we are now on a 3 game losing streak. The worst Baylor team we’ve played in years and still can’t get it done. Something has got to change if we want to win
More of the same, ours down the stretch and Vic’s antiquated system can’t get us home. We’ll have to accept the fate that other programs (OU and BU) are bringing in coaches with different offensive concepts and we just can’t (or won’t?) adjust to meet the moment.
Don't know who played the first half, but I certainly recognize THIS team. That 27 points given up by this team was hard to witness.
Is it the system or the players? It baffles me JAT is getting all the minutes when we can't score. That's a recipe for getting outscored for sure.
Vic has used up the "we are young" excuse...wonder what the latest will be during his presser? That is, if he gives one.
At least that was admission by Vic that he made a huge mistake on Friday night not starting Matharu, and not playing her the first 13 minutes of the first half.
It’s so crazy how Vic and Chris Beard are so similar in their coaching styles. Both are defensive gurus but when it comes to offense they are stuck in their ways. Won’t change the offense up for the life of them knowing it’s so predictable and easy to guard. Granted we miss a lot of open layups and are awful at free throws but it was quite clear this game and in most I’ve seen that Moore cannot be stopped on the block. Let her get on the block and go to work and put Warren at the 4 to facilitate in the middle. 1. Harmon 2. Joanne/Matharu 3. Holle 4. Warren 5. Moore I guarantee that lineup will do some serious damage on the defensive side of things and offensively.
I’m still scratching me head about that 4-point turnaround that seemed to suck the air out of the room and kill momentum. I mean, I’ve seen baskets waived off because the foul away from the ball took place before the shot. Haven’t I even seen that reviewed or no?
She has given up the baseline time after time in both games. I agree she is a fighter and love her fighting on the boards. Offensively it starts at pg. We have a freshman, another freshman as her backup and a shooting guard as the last alternate. 5 minutes before the tipoff of the very first game of the year I posted that we were going to have some ugly games due to the fact that freshman were supposed to carry a heavy load. Injuries took care of some of that and it fell to Warren Taylor and Ebo to carry this team. Outside of a game here and there by all of them they have not managed to do it. I don't think Vic was out coached at all. At blow U, cut the turnovers by half, make 50% of your missed FT'S and FG'S , that's a win. Same exact message at Baylor, that's a win. Missed FT'S and FG's cost us today.
We win the first half 26-18. Even built a 10 point lead in the first minute of the second half; I actually thought to myself, "When was the last time we held a 10 point lead over Baylor?" But, we allowed Baylor to score 18 points halfway through the 3rd quarter, including two 3-pointers by Asberry (as Matharu left her wide open). Didn't seem like Vic tried anything so stop their momentum (of course, I can't see straight right now). Second half, we get outscored 45-29. Baylor finished 17-19 from the free throw line. We were 13-22 as we only made 9-16 in the second half (this stat more than any really cost us).
I've seen that too, but it's a matter of getting in the right position, not speed. You do make some other good points. I can measure Ebo's vertical with an iphone, flat.
Moore gets so many of her shots blocked playing at PF; she'd get even more of her shots blocked if she played Center.
In reality you want your opponent to go baseline as you’re supposed to have help side defense right outside the paint and either force them to pick up their dribble or retreat back but we don’t do that for some reason. I don’t think Vic was out coached in this game but the game on Friday he definitely was. I will say Vic was out coached in the 3rd quarter and made no adjustments. My biggest thing with Vic at the moment is him letting the long runs continue. He won’t make a substitution at all and it’s not like him at all because, he is normally the first coach to take you out after careless turnovers or just not playing hard. That 3rd quarter was ridiculous and no changes were made and the same thing happened in the Oklahoma game.
We were confused also. Talked to an official. They reviewed because Audrey was in the arc. So it was reviewable. Then decided she flopped. Then counted basket and gave Baylor the basket and the ball. So on that play - Audrey cost us 4 points. Also heads up play by Baylor coach to get in ref’s ears and get the replay.
