Stateside because my father passed away because of COVID, and haven't seen the PB in a few years, but what a farce! Why bother playing in slo-mo and why would anyone pay money to see it??
I caught a bit by happenstance while trying to find the UT-Baylor women's basketball game. Didn't realize they recently switched the pro bowl to 2 hand touch. Of the two, the basketball contest is a much more physical game.
Why do they bother? I couldn't stand more than about 5 minutes. Who is it that watches that whole game? Players families?
Pretty much every All Star game has run its course. MLB and NBA had their eras of "must-watch" extravaganzas, notably the 70s for MLB and the 80s-90s for NBA. The Pro Bowl has always been a joke, and it's weird to think that people have watched it and thought "this is a really great way to have the faces of the league put on display." The NHL is also a mess. NFL should go back to a preseason exhibition format. Future stars vs. veterans; UFA's competing for roster or practice squad spots, etc. Graduated college players vs. free agents would also be kind of fun. I don't know what loopholes they'd have to go through to get back to "College All Stars vs. a pro team," but god knows people would want to actually see it.
They should scrap the game altogether. Too much risk of injury in football for multi-million players. Stick with the skills competitions. Those are low risk of injury and actually do better to show off the players skills.
Thanks, however, kind of sick that two posters thought your comment was funny? Assuming they are ******** or stupid!
Given that the comment which got a 'funny' tick was right below a post that someone had 'missed' the game AND did not contain any reference to what was being replied to, some of us presume that it is a post in reply to what was immediately above. And if you LOOK at the thread sequence, it would have made sense to you.
If anyone here watched the John Madden documentary that was just on recently, many players stated that it was more important to them to be named to the All-Madden team than it was to be named to the Pro Bowl. Sure they want the bonuses that may be in their contracts that are tied to the PB, but they all know the game itself is a joke, and they REALLY think it’s more prestigious to be AM… even prioritizing AM over being named All-Pro…
