That may be the reality down there, I don’t know. But the coeds at Grambling deserve a safe, rape-free environment, same as the coeds at Baylor.

As far as I know, none of the Baylor Board of Regents, BMDs, nor former administrators are involved at Grambling.

Adding Briles is inviting total disaster to a program and university. Not only did be get fired in disgrace at Baylor, but IIRC he cost some of the administrators their jobs as well.

I might argue that the administrators cost themselves their jobs by doing less than nothing about the awful and misogynistic culture and tolerance of criminality in the name of winning that had pervaded BU Athletics for a good while.

Kind of like the Penn State administrators who took the pitiful efforts that Paterno did make to notify them about Sandusky and then proceeded to do even less about it.

    Joe,

Baylor had been previously warned earlier in the 90s that their tolerance of drugs (cocaine specifically) and steroids would no longer be tolerated. Certain people had to be terminated or the Big XII would terminate Baylor. Some of these messages were delivered to certain members of Baylor's BOR by individuals who were personal friends of theirs.

I don't like Art Briles, but I do admire his football mind. Under the Baylor administration rules, Briles held to the protocol and did what their rules said he must. The investigation was then shut down by administrators, not by Briles. The BMDs and administrators then hung Briles out to dry and tried to convince everyone that Ken Starr was the epidemy of ethics. I'm happy for Briles that he got $15+ million for Baylor destroying his reputation.

Ken Starr: A very strange, sick little man. His hypocrisy was perfect for the place and time there at Baylor.

You are correct, they could have said no to Briles. But instead, they decided to crawl in that bed with Briles and chunk their values out the window. Then it all collapsed on them. When the info came out about the goings on at BU, it was disgusting. Now, when Baylor has a sports team that does well, I wonder if they are at it again. I'm glad we will be in a different conference in the near future and I hope we never schedule them again in any sport.

    Joe,

Baylor leadership chunked their ethics out the window long before Briles arrived.

    1) Leading the NCAA in drug abuse

    2) Second only to Nebraska in steroid abuse. (Please note I never accused Osborne & Nebraska of killing any players.)

    3) Doctoring SAT scores & HS transcripts. (Was anyone really going to believe that a kid improved his SAT from 580 to 1300 in three months? Well, anyone besides Tom Osborne, who welcomed the kid with open arms.)

Baylor was plenty dirty 15 years before Briles arrival.

Yes he does. But he apparently has a dark side to him. He was Baylor's HC from 2008 - 2015. During this time, between 2011 and 2014, 31 Baylor Bears football players committed 52 rapes, including five gang rapes involving 10 or more players at once, and there were players who, according to one report, never attended classes. Later he had two ringers come to a high school in Mount Vernon, to play football. Good or great football mind or not, I for one, don't want that pariah anywhere near our campus.

    Joe,

I never said, nor have I ever entertained the idea that Briles would be on payroll in Travis County. I have a friend that is a huge Baylor supporter and wanted to bet me that Briles would be coaching at Texas within six months of Baylor firing him. I bet my buddy my $100,000 (no, I don't have that) against his $5 that it would never occur. I'm pissed that I still don't have his $5.

FWIW, his players in Waco also got free donor owned apartments near campus among other benefits.

That might make for a good relationship, but it could go very terribly wrong very quickly.

The questions are how long will he be there, and who will take a chance on him next?

Deion’s schtick was old 20 years ago. I can’t watch the guy. All hype. And his Aflac commercials with Saban? Beyond boring. Painful.

Very few people will prompt me to change the channel faster than seeing DS.

There's something I still don't understand: Shouldn't sexual assault cases be handled by police and courts instead of football coaches and/or university administrators? If a football player is guilty of sexual assault, shouldn't they be thrown in jail instead of dismissed from a football team?
    If not, why not?

This isn't a rhetorical question. I don't know, and I want to know.

McLennan county has the most corrupt criminal justice system in the nation, including a previous 19th district judge and the one who replaced him last year. And the former DA’s office under Reyna and his group of incompetent clowns were totally responsible for not charging bailer kids with wealthy parents or influence. ALL those idiots are bailer grads with deep connections with the athletic department. Very sleazy bunch.
It is a huge miracle they did not get the death penalty for their basketball program, twice.
And they just looked the other way when football players were on drugs or raping coeds.
The whole county needs a complete purge politically or this behavior will continue.
