Uhh, so you want us to get into a war with Russia, in what used to be the Soviet Union, during the winter?

And if you're say, wrong about Russia folding up, which Russia doesn't have a big history of, then I guess we have this to look forward to:

Ahh sad pictures on the Internet. How many foolish things has the US done because of this? First ones I remember, though on TV not the Internet, were the sad pictures from Somalia circa 1992. We Just Had To Go In And Help! How'd that work out for us?

But we are helping people who can't help themselves.

Wait a minute, that should be "people who won't help themselves" against a bunch of corrupt politicians and kickback whores. At least we have the last half of this sentence down pat.

The other thing they do is have two tankers meet in the Atlantic Ocean. One will have light crude from America, the other heavy crude from Russia. They will then proceed to swap tanker contents. Thus, when the tanker returns to America it will contain heavy Russian crude and the light American crude goes to South America.

My last point on this. I love you all, and this is my opinion so please don’t put words into my mouth I did not say.
No , I do not ‘want’ a war with anyone. Russia would end this massacre if NATO told them stop and negotiate or we will unleash the full force of our military power on them.
Russia is struggling in Ukraine. Any thoughts Putin had about being a formidable force has left his odd shaped head.
My point is Russia doesn’t want a war with us, meaning NATO.
This isn’t about a siege on Russia- it’s stopping those jackwads from killing children and sending them back home. Those Russian soldiers don’t want to be there…

If not now , while they are vulnerable- my grandchildren will be fighting later.

I knew Marines that were there….our govt tied the hands of the fighting force. Like Beruit, where the grunts couldn’t have a magazine in their weapons.

You're a good guy and I don't want to labor this point too much - but we can't take the risk of Russia not backing down. There's not much history of them backing down in a real war - the history of Russia is that they are capable of accepting losses of their own people in numbers that would make any other country long since surrender.

No one - not you, not me, knows what Russia would do if we threatened them with a war unless they stopped their invasion. What if they said "piss up a rope?". Then what? Does NATO (which is 90% US 10% UK 0.01% everyone else) then back down and say "OK, it was all a bluff" or declare war?

From the US standpoint, wouldn't that require that thing never seen since about early Dec 1941 - a declaration of war? Or would we whittle up some Gulf of Tokin style fabrication as to a reason to start WWIII on a voluntary basis.

I understand you don't like the sad pictures on the internet. I don't understand why you think that's worth risking WWIII, especially with a military that as you say:

knew Marines that were there….our govt tied the hands of the fighting force. Like Beruit, where the grunts couldn’t have a magazine in their weapons.

Maybe we'd do the double - not just start WWIII, but lose it as well. That'd be a hoot!

Understand your points. I really do, but can’t stand to see kids get killed. It keeps me up at night. I know you feel the same, so please don’t misunderstand my tone there.
    God bless

Turn off the TV then. I mean that, with kindness for you and seriousness for our country. We can't run the affairs of a superpower based on what sad pictures on the internet the Media-Entertainment complex decides to highlight and push a narrative on.

We'll lurch from one sad set of pictures that we have to do something about to another. And those who are sad are never the ones who have to go and do anything about it. They send others off to do the fighting and dying, with ****** and cowardly Generals who'd rather lose a war than mis-pronoun someone. For one of those ends their career, and the first one doesn't.

H Bush had CNN et. all pushing sad pictures of starving Somalis, so we had to do something about it.

    We got this:

And even worse to the long term future of our country, this:

How financial interest and Control does Russia have over Venezuelan oil?

Not sure they do. But if we're cutting Russia off and can't replace it within our borders then we need some imports to substitute. What better than our South American friends (except when they're not)?

Actually I remember from a couple years ago reports that Russia was all over Venezuelan oil.
    I need to look.

Remember Venezuelan oil is very very dirty.

Anyone telling me Trump is a liar while voting vigorously for Democrats like Biden needs to check their conscience and their emotional make-up.

Democrats embrace politically risky strategy on rising gas prices

Biden frequently named the Russian president as he explained his decision. "Putin's war is already hurting American families at the gas pump," he said. "Since Putin began his military buildup on Ukrainian borders - just since then - the price of the gas at the pump in America went up 75 cents. And with this action, it's going to go up further. I'm going to do everything I can to minimize Putin's price hike here at home."

From an article written in Nov 2021:

3 reasons why gas prices are so high right now

An October report from AAA found that gas prices across the US hit their highest average levels since 2014 higher than they've been at any point since 2014.

I know this thread is oil related, but I just ran across this article about dependence on Russian uranium.

US Ban on Russian Energy Excludes Key Item to Avoid Rolling Blackouts Across American Cities: Report

US imports of Russian uranium won’t be affected by President Biden’s ban on Russian energy, a source familiar with the situation has told Reuters. The text of the executive order signed by President Biden Tuesday does not include uranium in its list of banned Russian energy products.

Nuclear power plants account for about 8.9 percent of US energy needs, including 20 percent of the country’s electricity, but America has no active uranium production or processing facilities, leaving it entirely dependent on imports.

46 percent of the uranium used by the US’s 56 operational nuclear power plants is imported from Russia and its Kazakh and Uzbek allies, with 22 percent coming from Canada, 11 percent from Australia, and five percent from Namibia. The US purchased about 10.2 million kg of uranium from Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in 2020, according to data extrapolated from US Energy Information Administration figures.

US media reported last week that the National Energy Institute, a trade group of US nuclear power generation companies including Duke Energy Corp and Exelon Corp, had engaged in heavy lobbying of the White House to keep Russian uranium deliveries off any sanctions plans amid fears that their inclusion could cause a dramatic surge in US electricity prices.

“The [US nuclear] industry is just addicted to cheap Russian uranium,” a source familiar with the lobbying effort told Reuters last week.

Texas and Wyoming are known to have large reserves of uranium, and several US firms have expressed an interest in the resumption of domestic mining and processing if long-term contracts with the industry could be secured. The Trump administration proposed the creation of a $150 million strategic uranium reserve in 2020, but the effort has yet to gain traction despite support for the idea from the Biden team.

    From Fox.

Daleep Singh, deputy national security adviser for the Biden administration, said Wednesday on "Morning Joe" during a discussion on Russia and Ukraine that the Keystone XL pipeline was a "distraction," and that drilling for oil in the U.S. wouldn't affect gas prices.

"Even if we drilled as much as we could," Singh said. "The price of oil is still set globally by the demand and supply conditions. Much of that supply is controlled by tyrants like Putin and again that's why we have resolve to speed our transition towards cleaner, more sustainable and renewable sources of energy."

If US had the pipeline wouldn’t we have more oil supply? Putin isn’t restricting oil supply is he? Putin is selling oil, countries are restricting Russian oil.

It was just a coincidence it was low during Trump's term. Apparently, even though people had more money and jobs, demand for gas must have been low. Go figure.

You realize the price of a barrel of oil went negative under Trump - if we are blaming POTUS' for this that should also be on the table. A stable (but higher than we've seen in the last few years) price of oil would be good for oil producing states like Oklahoma and Texas. No?

I do agree that we should expand production. At the same time, we should have real talk about how long it would take expanded US production to impact the price at the pump. I don't know that answer. Anyone?

So not only am I supposed to help hospitals manage beds, but now I am supposed to do my part at the pump for the poor oil companies? Gosh, the nearly $5/gallon I am paying for 87 should do it.

Our oil comes out of the ground at a much higher price point. This is one reason unused capacity will start to open as we have a lot of price sensitive oil in the US. Fracking in ND for example is worth it when the price per barrel is over ~$100. Less than that and it's more expensive to extract it than it's worth. There are places in Texas with equal price sensitivity. With the current prices the Biden Administration knows oil production will increase based only on the Capitalism. Will the increase be enough to make up for the 3% of oil we import from Russia and the 5% of oil byproducts we import? There's a small subset of Americans that hope the answer is no, some simply for political reasons and the others because of the profit they'll make.

    Musburger,

We have a problem with our uranium. Our uranium enrichment facility can't hire engineers, and when they do, they seem to stay a few days and not show up again. This has been going on for over two decades.

I do search for and buy higher prices for US made products.
Just bought a belt for 3x the cost of a Chinese product.
But I’ve done this for years.

Translation - if you don’t like paying 6 bucks a gallon for gas thanks to Depends incompetence on yet another issue (to go also with sky high inflation, more crime, and more deaths from the Wuhan than under Trump), you’re not a patriotic American.

The Democrat party is deathly afraid of being slaughtered in November, so they’ll try using the media industrial complex to fool people into thinking it’s good they’re paying more.
