Sometimes Tech’s catcher sets up way outside and catches the ball about a foot outside the strike zone. But the crowd boos, wondering how that could possibly be a ball—it was right in the catcher’s mitt?!?!?!?
1. There is a tree in Lubbock 2. That “mysterious cloud of smoke” they keep talking about came from a van full of provisional students parked just outside of right field.
2 errors. Tech scores a run and ties it. 4-4 Don’t see that every day. Don’t blame Southard for that. Rare fielding mishaps—first Ardoin and then Melendez. Enter Nixon.
The way I see it: if we’re going to use Nixon, then we’d better friggin win. Go Horns!!! Nixon takes down the last batter with a K. Tie ball game—going to the 9th
Folks can arm chair coach that rather bizarre ending all they want. I suppose both Silas and Skye should have been shouting HOME HOME HOME at Nixon, but it may not have mattered. IMHO, the real deciding factor were those 2 errors in 1 inning resulting in a run. If it weren’t for that—no extra innings.
Weird game all around. Amazingly (to me), I’m not disappointed in our effort. Clean up those (very rare) errors and just keep playing our game. While Hansen’s ERA will edge up, his WHIP will probably go down. Only time I can say ‘good pitching’ after the pitcher gives up 3 home runs…
Is the third baseman MUTE? Those short naps must be wonderful. Third baseman, SS, first baseman all playing switch when the runner takes off? That isn't even 10 year old baseball.
Friday game reviews: No. 2 Baseball falls to No. 16 Texas Tech in extra innings - University of Texas Athletics No. 2 Texas loses to No. 16 Texas Tech on walkoff steal of home - Burnt Orange Nation
Nixon's habit of walking multiple batters was eventually going to bite him and unfortunately last night it did. Horns need bounce back today with bats and a strong pitching outing and Stevens is just guy to do that,
Coach or someone should of a called it when Nixon was a pitch or 2 away from striking out the 100 average batter.
Lets see how they handle business today. Last night was a learning experience opportunity- I’m pretty sure Pierce drove the point home after class. I’m expecting 2 normal W’s before exiting the South Plains.
So much for a pitchers duel. Looks like the bats are more active so far today than Carlsbad Caverns at dusk. 2-2 in the First Inning.
Based on last night and the bottom of the 1st today, that might be asking a lot. Stevens has zero control so far.
