Now all we need are some weightroom workout videos so fans can talk about how our S&C issues are fixed, and how we're going to drive the opposition off the line with a 3 yard surge every play.
" It is just us Wanting to be there" For me that shows there won't be negative attitude problems Thanks Moon for posting
Outside of Sam, we haven't had any specific person or unit with this kind of "sticktogetherness" and optimism since probably Colt. Or maybe the 2009 defense. I hate to admit that ISU has been correct all these years, but culture beats recruiting rankings every time. We'd be up there with the Clemsons and Alabamas of the 21st century football world if our culture matched our recruiting class prowess. And I think Sark knows he's got some challenges to get it there. Side note: I think we're not going to have anyone drafted in a few weeks. Maybe Dicker. It's going to be a knock against the program for the 2nd time in 8 years. I'm hoping the team rallies around this and turns it into "you think you can use this against us in recruiting" fuel.
For a fifth year player who has had what? 3 defensive coaches For Keondre to be so comfortable with Patterson means a LOT. Laughed when he said he was glad Patterson was not at TCU Hard NOT to start getting jazzed.
It's refreshing to see Cook own his role. I don't think he'll go down in the annals of great Texas DBs, and this board raked him over the coals for his "will-he-won't-he" portalling. But I agree with him that his strengths aren't necessarily the things you see on the field. I trust players when they are asked about who the difference makers are. Shout outs to Murphy (mistakenly called Jones) and Terrance Brooks. Jaden Alexis has apparently been a hot topic because of so much hype last year and then getting injured. Roschon has that same vibe from when he was playing QB. Good leadership. I loved when the reporters asked him what went wrong with 2021 because he had a good take. When Worthy was asked about his goals and he redirected to "team goals" instead... that's some leadership that the rest of the team sees.
I liked what Coburn had to say about his approach to his teammates this year. He said, and I paraphrase: "While on the field you're not my friend. You're my teammate. You're my business partner. We have a job to do and if you're not doing yours I'm going to call you out."
Jaden Hullaby moves from LB to RB. Makes zero sense to me. Our LB room is the weakest on the team. If he can't get playing.time with that group he needs to transfer. He'll be lucky to get double-digit carries.
This is an interesting move, IMO. We need depth at LB, but they remove him from that room and put him in a room where we already have plenty of depth. IMO, I don't see him ever taking a snap at RB outside of practice. So there's more here than meets the eye. We're not in a position to give up LB depth. Yet, this happens.
Blocking back or fullback for some run heavy packages. Who wouldn’t like to see Bijan run from the I every so often, with a FB type clearing the way?
Thanks Moon, The more I see Sark- the more I like this man. A coach who is humble and engaged, while also being honest and actually answering questions.
I can't remember if last year the players talked about taking responsibility for their positions and accountability as a team. But I read and feel a new dynamic. This years the players seem more like a team. And it seems like they are having fun.
