That's gotta be a steal considering Louisville beat us in the tourney a few years ago and UK just beat us for the natty. Unless they didn't offer.
They definitely offered. Sydney is a top 15 player in her class. Will be surprised if she's not top 10 in a couple of years.
Lol they definitely added about 3 inches. I've seen her in person at a tournament and she is 6"2-6'3 at the most. Still a great player and great grab by the staff
She’s from Florida. She could be an Opp/MB/OH. Truly versatile. I would think she’s a pin. But she could be a unique MB. Was also a highly ranked basketball player.
Thanks Rulz23. With recent 2023 commitments of Bunton (6’-5” MB), Helmers (6’-4”Position unknown), Tomkinson (6-4” Opposite), Byrd (6’-3”? Opp/MB/OH), and Swindell (6’-2” Setter).....Elliot is going with lots of size. Guess he’ll figure out positions when they are on campus. Don’t remember who he has coming in 2022. The future is bright.
Helmers is an OH. And some reports say Tomkinson may be closer to 6'5". This is a MONSTER ATHLETE class.
For sure there will be a need for bigs as we transition from Eagleston, O’Neal, Fields, and Butler over the next couple of years. I’m not even going to figure out all that transition .....or who’s coming in 2022 as well. Lots of moving parts and decisions. I just like to know that Elliot has a plan and he has good options. Looks like he had both. Thanks
KHSAA volleyball: No. 1 Assumption without Texas commit Sydney Helmers Sydney Helmers quits her high school team
Guessing Helmers situation is similar to Jaydon Blue football ..........gives up senior year but stays committed to Horn's!
I've had personal experience with this issue. My niece got burned out from all the club volleyball, etc. and walked away from a D-1 scholarship because she wasn't having fun anymore. My niece was facing a shoulder rehab, where it appears Helmers may be dealing with post concussion symptoms, but still, we may have to face the reality that Helmers is done for good. I hope she just needs a break and it is not a permanent decision, but reading that article sure brought my niece immediately to mind.
