Says he “loved” his time at Texas but no decision

Say English majors: isn’t “loved” past tense…?

I gotta say I think it's a little early in his coaching career to make him the HC. The question is, does he (Tulo) agree with that?

I read that the same way. I hope he stays at Texas. His decision.

    “Loved” :idk:

i hope we keep Tulo but it is understandable if he takes a position somewhere else. He owes us nothing and we are forevermore greatful for what he has done at Texas.

Tulo has been awesome for us. All that MLB All-Star experience at the plate. And he’s done it as a volunteer (and not the Tennessee kind). What a great guy!

I think that the volunteer part gets overlooked. Why volunteer? Love of the game? I hope so. I want him to stay at Texas but, as all of us, he has to follow his heart and desires. Head Coach, etc.

Appears Tulo has turned down USC and also said he won't be returning to Texas.

Rats! I wish he was coming back, but what can we do but thank him sincerely for what he has given?

This news really stinks but it definitely is a time for all Texas fans to say thanks to Tulo for coming in after that disastrous 2019 season and for being a huge part of a rebuild that saw two trips to Omaha and I think probably would have seen three if 2020 hadn't been cut short. Wherever he is headed (and I wonder if it isnt back to the majors for a coaching job there) I will always be a fan.

    Thanks Tulo and good luck!:hookem:

Now I’m a Pierce guy, but I was just thinking—what if we made Tulo our head coach?

    Be patient (not with Pearce)

Both Texas and USC have a requirement of a bachelors degree to be employed as a coach and he doesn't have it. This is why he was a volunteer coach at Texas and also why he couldn't be hired by USC. Neither will change that requirement for one coach. He's too talented to go the lower level college route so my bet is he will end up in MLB. He's ready to get paid.

Yep, someone please explain to me what a degree has anything to do with anyone's ability to coach. Convince me and I'll change my views.

I understand it is 100 year old policy for anyone employed by the universities, but today things are clearly different for athletics.

Knowing that why would USC have even offered him the hc job?

It may not have occurred to them to ask. I doubt when looking for coaches one of the first few phone questions is do you have your degree.

USC is a private school, and like Baylor, TCU, SMU, et al, they can and will circumvent that requirement.
