EAST TEXAS LONGHORN ALL-STARS (squarespace.com) Were I ranking all these East Texas players on pro careers, things could be, would be greatly different. Some guys were "only" great college players. College careers are what I based my picks on. Otherwise, for one example, Bradley would be the first team in the defensive backfield. But at Texas, he only played there for a handful of games in the latter half of his senior year. Larry Carlson
A minute matter: Loyd Wainscott was a LaMarque Tiger. They were rebranded Cougars after desegregation and the merger with Lincoln HS.
As the map in the article points out Galveston county is not East Texas. Period. That eliminates, Texas City, Lamarque, Galveston etc... People left off that I can think off the top of my head. Jamaal Charles , Chris Akins-Paris, Ray Woodard- Corrigan Camden.
The error has been corrected on the primary TLSN link. Thanks for your comment and for reading Larry's article.
Thanks for reading and your passionate comments. While you are correct with your statement, Larry chose to include the towns you mentioned for a good reason. He already has completed West Texas Longhorns and now East Texas is complete. In the future he will have a Houston Longhorn team and did not want to include the cities you mentioned with the Houston stars. Larry will also complete a South East Texas Longhorn All Star list which will include Austin and South and East toward Corpus. Finally, Larry will complete the Longhorn all star journey with the heroes from the DFW area. Please feel free to share your thoughts on these three pending Texas areas. Respectfully, Billy Dale
Billy Dale, you folks are doing great work at TLSN. We at Hornfans (to the extent I can speak for the whole community) are honored to have you sharing your links with us.
