One thing to factor in. The Heisman is a beauty contest that is back end loaded. In other words, it’s often not how the player starts the season, but how he finishes. The voters remember what they see last.
As a good example, in 2015 Leonard Fournette entered the season as the prohibitive Heisman favorite. He finished 6th.
Another great example is 1997 when it was a foregone conclusion that Peyton Manning would win the award. But Charles Woodson, a defensive back, had a great game against Ohio State, and the rest is history.
If Bijan can survive the early part of the season, meaning, if he can be reasonably proficient, I believe that the season stacks up very well for him to amass the numbers and the performance as a talented but young OL gels, and the quarterbacks gain confidence. It is my hope but also to some extent my expectation that the offense will become more lethal as we get into October. If I’m correct, the voters are going to see an unstoppable player by mid-October, if not before.
