For some reason many people from Texas living just South of the Red River have always thought of themselves as Okies and Sooners. Maybe descendants of those who swam across for a better life?
IT recently reported that DL Hunter Osborne of Trussville, AL and the Texas staff officially parted ways earlier in the week. Hunter Osborne, Hewitt-Trussville, Defensive Line
It is an interesting point. If he does commit to Texas, im curious to see what he says. I’ve seen a few things said but don't know if any of it is true. His family might be making a last minute move to Houston. Flood has recruited him since he was at Bama. Cedric Baxter, a possible silent commit to us, got in his ear? Who knows for sure though.
CJ Vogel @CJVogel_TFB 12 offensive linemen have committed to Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood during their tenure at #Texas. Their average height and weight are 6’5.1” and 314.7 lbs. #HookEm For those wondering, during the Tom Herman era, this was the average OL commit: Height: 6’4.8” Weight; 290. 6:46 PM · Jul 23, 2022
I watched the commitment and read an article on 247 about decision making, i have no idea if he will stick and lord knows everyone can transfer at any time but he said relationship and it was kind of weird, it didn't sound like Flood or Sark were even talking to him much if at all after they left Alabama but the relationship was there before and he didn't like what was developed at his top 5 choices and he got frustrated and out of the blue called Sark and Flood and with that call decided to commit, he felt like it was home with those guys. Sark didn't even believe it, Payton had to tell his mom to tell Sark he was definitely committed. you can tell his mom is a VERY large part of his life, hes a good kid, his mom rules and thats a good thing.
I feared that as well, but I watched it live. No hats, no drama, just the kid and his mom, whom we may be luckier to have than the kid. No drama, just discussion about family, relationships, tradition, education, growing as a man as well as a football player, and how when he was injured, Flood and Sark were the only ones calling him regularly. He did say he talked to Arch every week. Really a class act.
Love this kid. Intelligent, eloquent and well spoken. The cherry on top is that I believe I detect the hint of a mean streak in his demeanor.
I’m also impressed with both mother and son. I think he will be a fine player and a true leader on the field and off. Flood must be a fine man that connects with young men quickly, sincerely and from the heart. I get the impression that Sark does as well. Congratulations coaches and to the Horn Nation on this incredible recruiting run.
