IT wrote today that TE Duce Robinson of Phoenix, AZ continues to be intrigued by the additions to Texas' class.

Sources telling them Texas and USC are his top two schools and he's eager to see Austin in a few weeks.

The Texas baseball coaches are also interested, so my guess is they'll be involved with his upcoming official visit.

    Duce Robinson, Pinnacle, Tight End

Matthews commits on Monday. Jalen Hale moved his date up 1 day in order to allow for a ceremony at his school.

    CB Jordan Matthews -8/15 commitment

CB Javien Toviano -8/25 (opener vs Lake Travis)

    WR Jalen Hale -9/21 commitment

ATH/WR Mikal HP - after fall visits

DL - David Hicks - UA AA game, Jan 2nd

    Uncommitted targets we keep chasing:

TE Duce Robinson (visits Sept 10th, Bama)

Edge Tausili Akana (visits Sept 10th)

    Edge Damon Wilson

    DL Jordan Hall

    DL - Markis Deal

CNC, I must be missing something. What is the difference between your first 5 and the 2nd five....aren't they all uncommitted and all our targets.?!

First 5 have commitment dates or thereabouts.

I am impressed with Baxter's jump step, lateral movement, and quick feet in heavy traffic. And then his refusal to go down when being hit. He has room to grow and add strength, so I have no doubts his ability to shed tackles and gain mucho yards after contact will translate to the next level.

The young man runs with the grace of a butterfly and the attitude of a bull.

I don't get what you are saying here. We need DL way more than we need TE, which we do not use anyway.

TE can play OL, DL, LB, and sometimes RB and WR. A DL can only play DL.

And don’t forget CB. TEs are practically natural born CBs.

It happens in high school practices: Corner to defensive line. Or corner versus defensive lineman in the infamous Board Drill. That’s when you know the Head Coach really wants to toughen you up.

So, why can't a DL play all other positions just like a TE could? Either case, they would not be as efficient as they would at their natural position. Remember the days of 2 way players!!

TE has the speed and agility not normally found in a DL while retaining the necessary strength

    Gyl,

We lost two QBs to the board drill - broken arm; busted knee

Only thing worse was "bull in the ring"

    Cost my son his career.
He hit really hard, so the dumb coach tried to show the team “heart”… 170# vs 260# DL, spinal cord dislocated ( not the medical term) and yes 260# DL was put on his butt. Good kid, he was a friend.

On the bright side for Jimbo, he can actually be truthful this year regarding NIL money not being a factor.

That’s exactly what happened to me..225 vs 140 Board drill. The Board Drill is a planned head on collision..20 feet separating. Did it once and it was a stalemate. Then the coaches said to the 225 pound future longhorn” you’re going to let that little guy do that to you!!! Do it again!” Second time knocked me out. I’m sorry your son was so badly injured. Terrible

Thanks- he’s 36 now and he’s okay…. Nothing permanent, I should have said that… so he went from football to motocross- that’s when things got insanely scary as a dad.
