Have no specific individuals in mind.

I loved what Coach White did 2 years ago in bringing in a head coach from Ball State named Megan Bartlett to be his assistant coach. I know we hate her on here, but it's what Kim Mulkey started doing at Baylor her last few seasons. "Poaching" head coaches from smaller schools to come be your assistant coach brings plenty of experience in different areas, including knowing how to run your own program.

So, it wouldn't surprise me if he took that same approach/route this time around.

Someone who can improve our defense.

Not really hate but was disappointed in the results. The reality is that Coach Sing was infield defense (poor) and Coach Bartlett was outfield defense (average) and they both regressed in both their time here. However, Sing's saving grace is that he's obviously elevated the hitting since he's arrived and with only 2 assistant coaches and the obvious poor play when the team makes more than 1 error in a game, I was fearing that Barlett would be the scapegoat. She's actual very nice and I spoke with her a few times during the post-covid year of 2021 when our regular seats were moved out to near first base and while waiting for play to start, I would shout out questions to her and she would answer them.

Besides the recruitment of Pomykalski and Katie Stewart (both from IL), I wonder if she had a hand in getting Czech (from IL) to transfer to Texas. The midwest isn't a hotbed of talent, but Bartlett seemed to be our mid-West pipeline.

Um, my "hate" comment was about Kim Mulkey.

I loved Bartlett's positive energy as I watched her coaching during games at first base.

Well darn it! I assumed that Cincinnati had a softball team (instead they have lacrosse) that would bump up our 7 team league for 1 year into a 11 team league. Instead it will be on the additions of: BYU, Houston and UCF. Oh well, a year after THAT, we'll be going from 10 teams to a 14 team league.....assuming with all this conference swirl from football the SEC doesn't add a PAC team.

No news on any transfers into the program. OU, as usual, vacuuming up top transfers.

Hey, have you wondered if it would be a good thing or a bad thing if Texas were to lower the "fence"? You know the reason for the height of the current fence is because it serves as a fence for softball but it also serves as a barrier to the field right? Now the way the structure is made, you can climb into the field from the crossbars, but you can't get back out of the field, thus the deterrent.

Lowering the walls = more HRs for us, more runs
But it can also do the same for the opposing team. So what's the point? Right?

Good article on Former Longhorn Coach Meghan Bartlett. Looks like she is rebuilding an Arizona State team after so many of the players jumped ship on her.

I love this! We all know Whitaker struggled this season and I love the fact she acknowledged that, accepted it, and ready to contribute next season. Whitaker could have a big turn around season next year.

Vanessa Quiroga doing some off season work. Hope we see this home run prowess in action this season!

My big question going into 2023 is Mya Holmes. She was one of the top outfield recruits in the country last year. I don't believe Coach could have been wrong with her. I'm expecting a big turn around from her next year. I hope she can be that polished 1st baseman we need.

Also expect more out to Lou Gilbert. She was big for Baylor and just seemed uncomfortable this season. An outfield of Dayton, Gilbert, and possibly Holmes is one i’d go to battle with. Dayton especially impressed me this season. Can’t wait to see her development :hookem:

Coach White obviously has some sort of belief in her. During games when it was obvious we were going to win or lose, he would insert Holmes in to bat, which wasn't that impressive......0 for 12.

Racer I'm hoping that 0 for 12 was more mental than lack of ability. I think as a freshman once that 0fer streak started it becomes more difficult, especially always coming off the bench. It appears the entire team was pulling for her to stop that streak, the same with Vanessa. She is tall and would make a great target at first in my opinion.

Not sure you'll see much of a turn around out of holmes. She has all the tools except the hit. I see Vanessa contributing more.

Why not?? There is no good reason why she can't turn her very young career around. The same could be said about Vanessa and Ashton too. Gotta remember these are amazing recruiting classes (2022, 2023, 2024). Give them more than 12 at bats. Ashton was recovering, but they all will be given a chance this fall to earn playing time.

Looks like the players will be on campus starting tomorrow. In Maddie’s post she states she is headed to Austin today.

    Random goings on:
I'm a little disappointed Texas Softball has not put anything on social media about the arrival and move in of the incoming 2022 recruiting class plus transfers Baylee Brandon and Mac Morgan. Coach White is just not a big social media guy. I don't believe he realizes how this helps to build his fan base and possibly helps in recruiting. Just look at what Women's basketball is doing with work out clips, interviews and updates of what the girls are doing in the offseason. Fans and potential recruits have to Love these updates and exposure. Maybe WBB is allowed more resources but he can definitely do better.

Anyone else notice that our new assistant Coach Kristen Zaleski does not have any social media accounts?? Or at least I can't find any. I find that unfathomable in this day and time of social media relevance. I understand that following every one you want, need or try to can bury you if you let it but still you have to at least be out there and have a presence. This leaves me shaking my head?

Has anyone else watched all of our games from the 2022 WCWS on youtube? They have 17 to 20 minute highlight clips on each game and they are amazing. I have watched all the games at least 3 times this offseason and and the OSU 6-5 win about 10 times! We really made an amazing run. I find this period from early June until now without Longhorn sports excruciating. Another great watch is Molly Jacobsen's no hitter against Oregon in 2021 to get us to the Super Regional. What a game which finished at 1 in the morning!

Gosh I'm ready for the Longhorns to get back into action.

Got these shots from the Twitter post for the celebration of winning the Learfield trophy where all the athletes gathered. At least we know a few of the softball players are on campus.

Where did you find these photos and all the athletes should be on campus since classes started Monday. If anyone is missing then that’s a bad sign.

These pictures are from the Twitter post below as I mentioned in my post. Also I had mentioned in a previous post that softball was terrible at Social media and not highlighting the arrival of our new recruits and transfers. At least I got these shots from the softball players at the Learfield award presentation.

Some were throwing t-shirts in our direction and one or two I wasn't quite sure if they were new recruits or new transfers. Checked the roster page and they haven't updated the roster for Fall.

I agree. I could not recognize the tall girl between Viviana and Logan Hulon? Not a returning player that I recognize? Today is signing day so maybe announcements will be coming.
