Blumenthal was one of the dirtiest operators in politics going all the way back into the '90s.

Folks - it’s obvious. They hate Trump because their grift gets disrupted.

We all know they have an exclusive little party going on up there and all the elected politicians are in on it. That's the swamp. And it's a major problem in New York. Yet these people are the most arrogant a-holes around and attract emotionally impaired people like flies.

After Trump rose to prominence, there became a narrative that neoliberals and neocons were and had long been anti-Putin purists, and it was never true. For the first several years of Putin's reign, both were largely indifferent or viewed him as a solid Russian nationalist but a guy they could play ball with.

By 2008, it was pretty well known that Putin was no Boys Scout. However, between then and 2014, neoliberals in the United States and Western Europe did some big things that were wildly pro-Putin.

First, though NATO was expanding, the military capabilities of NATO were dramatically reduced. Remember that in 2013, the US Army didn't have a single tank in Europe, and of course, we killed a missile defense program in the Czech Republic. That was coupled with big defense cuts in general in most NATO countries. Very pro-Putin move.

Second, Western European neoliberals went full swing (or full retard) on green energy at this time. They virtue signaled about their greenness with solar and wind power, but in the background they were "making it work" with huge imports of Russian oil and gas. (In other words, to a great extent, it was a scam.) Another very pro-Putin move. In fact, it's not crazy to say the invasion of Ukraine is bankrolled with German money given away because of green energy policy.

Third, while we condemned and the Crimean invasion and made some small though no where near proportional reversals in the military drawdowns, we couldn't do a very big response because while Crimea was going to hell, we were diplomatically leaning on Russia to help facilitate the Iran nuclear deal. It's hard to kick a guy's *** and lick his nuts at the same time, but that's what we were doing in '14 and '15.

And of course, early in Biden's presidency, he green-lit Nord Stream 2. Another very pro-Putin move.

So when we hear about Republican or Trump softness on Putin, always remember that the criticism is coming from people who enabled the very crisis that's occurring.

I was living in Austin when Roe came and remember thinking this is going to be a big deal for a long time and will galvanize one sector. I got that one right.
What I did not expect was that it would jump start a revival of fundamentalist protestantism, which I saw as a dying sector in American life. Instead, the fundamentalists got mobilized and it was the mainstream, liberal christians who fell apart and the catholics did the pederasty thing to their discredit.

Abortion has been the rallying point for rural conservative republicanism ever since. Later, when I moved to the panhandle, all the officeholders were moderately conservative democrats. Now they are as scarce up there as polar bears in Odessa. The whole of west Texas is overwhelmingly right wing republicans.

Ginsburg could have retired in 2013 as suggested to her by Obama and this gutting of Roe might have been avoided or delayed. But she set a record for term of service, so................

Ginsberg was against Roe constitutionally. Not sure if she would have voted for Dobbs though.

And yet, the left holds her out to be an unassailable paragon of virtue. Hilarious.

The left is always like this. Not only with Trump, but anyone who worked for him as well. They are evil until he fires them and they turn on him. Then, they hang on their every word.

According to the left, Trump was so chaotic and disorganized, he couldn't do anything. But, he was able to collude with Russia, persuade and trick Zelensky, and get people to literally try to overthrow the government on January 6, which is what insurrection means. They keep using that word. They don't really know what it means.

Except that he intended to start the insurrection and waited 187 minutes to see if it would work.

Oklahoma is the same way. Oklahoma used to be a Democratic state that would vote conservative on national elections. Even as the change was happening over decades the eastern part of the state remained "little Dixie" and was still Democratic. That ended once we had a black president. The Democratic primary ballot had only three things to vote on recently. We have people deciding County Commissioner races or other local elections based on national issues. It's really comical.

LOL! No chance in hell. That was cheap rhetoric. She voted to uphold Roe every chance she got.

It's just racism, right Coach? You do know that Bush won most of the Eastern Mobilhoma counties in 2000 (and didn't lose any of them badly) and won them all in 2004, right? They must have really soured on that black guy, John Kerry. They liked him even less than they liked that other black guy, Walter Mondale (who also lost most of Eastern Mobilhoma).

In presidential politics, the tipping point was 2000, not the "black President." And the signs were present before that. The first big sign was that Democrats were unable to hold Mike Synar's congressional seat after he got primaried in 1994. That gave the seat to Tom Coburn. Dan Boren, Jr. (who, like his dad, was far more conservative than Mike Synar was and would be horsewhipped out of the party now) took it back for four terms, but it has been in safe GOP hands since 2012.

The part of the world I'm from went from apolitical to batshit crazy circa 2008. That's just a fact.

That can mean anything you want it to mean, but the eastern part of Oklahoma didn't stop voting Democratic because of the "black president," as you suggested it did. It was happening well before that.

I have read several rumors that say Michelle Obama will run for President.
In my opinion, she was one of our least effective First Ladies, yet, for obvious reasons she has an army of fan girls and supporters who think she hung the moon.
Many claim she is the "best First Lady in history". Yeah, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jackie Kennedy, Lady Bird Johnson, Betty Ford didn't do squat.
(My personal opinion is Betty Ford is one of the "bests ever". She brought addiction out in to the open, as well as building the Betty Ford Center that has helped thousands, and also talked about her breast cancer)
I don't know if Obama will run, although I doubt it as life is pretty sweet making millions for doing nothing.

My prediction is that Mayor Pete will somehow be in the mix. Either as a Presidential candidate or or VP choice.
Either would be absolutely horrifying since he is just as ineffective as most of Biden's choices.
But, I must admit he is a smooth speaker with an attractive face, he is young, and he doesn't have the truly visible failures of a Newsome hanging around his neck.

Think of the virtue signaling and pride liberals would feel if the first openly gay man was elected on their watch. Think of the photo ops with his husband and a cute baby.
Most importantly, think of all the racist roads and highways he has courageously re-named.
I don't know if people attach things like baby food shortages, supply chain issues, etc to his position. He has kept his head down for the most part, and seems so far to be unscathed from his failures.

Of course Joe won't run again. I doubt he even makes it to the end of this Presidency.
And, while Trump shook things up, and got some important things accomplished, the Republican party needs to move on from Trump. Fair or not, he is associated with too many bad things.
The GOP needs to quit the drum beat about Hunter Biden, too. Even though he is guilty, and Biden is in on it, the wimp known as Merrick Garland will never touch him, and Dems and many Republicans don't seem to see it as one of their top issues.

I wish Tulsi Gabbard was a Republican. I agree with her on many things.
She is young, attractive, and is a female who can speak with passion and not sound shrill or whiny.

Good points, Hollandtx. I agree regarding a second term for Joe. And I sincerely hope he does complete his current term - the thought of Kamala in the White House is totally sickening.
And I also agree on Trump. If Trump is the nominee, it would energize the Dems to get out the vote to vote against Trump (again). Trump should settle into the role of Elder of the Party - he can stress the validity of his policies while tilting the playing field toward his favorite candidate. IMO, if DeSantis or Nikki Haley is the GOP nominee, it's a GOP landslide in 2024.

I think they'd win, but I think the country is too polarized for anyone to win a landslide. Until there's a major political realignment, presidential elections are going to be tight.
