Which defensive coordinator instituted "bull in the ring" at Texas? I believe it was either Carl 'Bull' Reese or Greg Robinson. I am thinking it was Robinson. I remember how excited everyone on this board was because for a while before that time many considered Texas to be "soft". Also, I heard that Robinson had passed away a few months ago. Was very sorry to hear this as he did a great job while here at Texas.
DKRfan, I don't think anyone "considered" Texas to be "soft". TEXAS WAS SOFT as long as that lardass, waste of space Puppydog Madden was on payroll. Although I wasn't around for the vast majority of them, I think it is safe to say NO Texas team was ever as soft as those under Brown & Madden. Those stats are supported by our great showing in the NFL draft and subsequent performances. So, while I liked Bull Reese, and credit Dick Tomey with Robinson's accomplishments in Austin, I can't blame any DC for the overwhelming incompetence of Madden.

This is more annoying to me than actually losing the recruit. Misleading a program is not cool, regardless of which school is mislead. (With one exception, of course.)
I imagine what NIL means that if a team is not recruiting as strongly they can put more eggs into a top tier recruit basket. Maybe he was Tenn's #1 or #2 target. He wasn't ours, and maybe that affected the bottom line NIL wise?
