Beach Volleyball added as a sport at Texas

    I saw a professional beach volleyball at Lake Travis in 1997 or so. That’s where it should be played, or on university land along Town Lake.

    Why add a slightly different version of a sport we already have?
    Will Elliott coach them both?
    I guess you recruit differently for sand?
    I don’t understand this being an official sport.

    It allows UT an extra sport where we can excel (think Learfield Cup) at minimal cost.

    Years ago…..8-10 or so, Texas had a small beach volleyball presence. As I remember it, they played in California and most if not all were members of the indoor volleyball program. Don’t hold me to any of this but I remember it…..vaguely.
