12/31 is the same date men’s conference play begins. Longhorn men play at OU that day.

All 10 women's teams will play their conference opener on 12/31:

Agreed... I don't take K. Harper as one who would want to deviate from the tradition set by Pat and Jody.

Rori for sure. Moore is also hard to argue against but I'm going to say Kendall Hunter because of the vocal leadership I have seen in the off-season videos.

Just imagine how dangerous this team will be if Hunter plays solid D and is the threat we all expect her to be on offense.

Well, that's the reason Vic provided last season as to why the home non-conference schedule had no headliners. If that's the same reason this season, then someone (Del Conte, Plonsky, etc.) needs to help him out and call in some favors to provide matchups the Texas fans will want to attend in droves.

If you think about it, we'd have UConn at home this season if Vic hadn't have requested to defer the series (a second time) one year ago. So, can't always put the blame on others.

I get that our defensive style of play is relentless; but, we aren't necessarily a fine-tuned offensive team (like Maryland and UConn for example) who want to hang 100 points on the opposition; the Terps and Huskies don't seem to have a problem scheduling home non-conference games against Top 25 teams. The "powerhouses" the last few seasons have been South Carolina, Stanford, UConn, and Louisville; all seem to have at least one Top 25 non-conference opponent at home this coming season.

As for Tennessee, our non-conference series with them did basically already get halted (temporarily) with the missed COVID game. And, they will no longer be a non-conference opponent once we join them in the SEC. So, certain things come to an end, while new things begin.

In the end, I'm just happy we're playing in the Atlantis tournament with the possibility of playing some high-quality opponents. It is unfortunate for the home fans, but it's still a huge positive for our players (and that's priority #1, IMO).

Regarding Moody opening year…….it’s going to be interesting to hear Schaefer and perhaps CDC drumming up fan and student support to fill up Moody in non-conference games. I remember a lot of dialogue from them and I won’t try and repeat it. In my personal situation, I live in Dallas…..and have 3 Aggy daughters, two worthless Aggy son-in-laws (tongue-in-cheek), an Aggy wife, and five Aggy grandkids. No one will come with me to Horns games in Austin. But THIS year, I convinced my child bride to come to see a marquee game at the new Moody. A marquee game. Maybe next year.

Maybe not “marquee games” but certainly interesting, perhaps take in the Princeton or USF game(s). For her two hours of time maybe go shopping with her, or a nice restaurant or even a nice weekend getaway to Austin. After all, she needs to get a lay of the land before aggy starts showing up on a regular basis.
I live in Dallas too and admittedly won’t make it to all the non conference games, but I’ll definitely be there for those two games plus the opener at Moody. I attended the final game at Erwin and won’t miss the first at Moody.

We might complain about the home schedule this year but overall it’s a pretty darn good one especially if the Bahamas turns out the way we hope. I’m hoping when Texas shows a sustained Top 5 program, there will be more marquee teams willing to do home and home games as it can really help their RPI’s (even with a loss). Some do home and home even during the same season. Vic’s teams are worthy of such.

Well, something definitely has to change. Unfortunately, the non-conference opponents who I would have suggested for home-and-home based on current and building strong programs are future SEC conference opponents in South Carolina, Tennessee, and LSU. So, they will help our home conference schedule, but lessen the pool of possible strong non-conference opponents.

As far as ex-Big 12 conference opponents becoming future non-conference opponents, I wouldn't think Fennelly and Iowa State would want any part of Texas after 6 losses in a row in 2 seasons, and all the whining he did about "freedom of movement" after the loss in KC in March.

So, that leaves ACC, PAC, and B1G. Arizona seems to be the best option. Vanderveer whined to the media/officials prior to our Elite 8 matchup, so Stanford seems to be in our rearview mirror as a nonconference opponent. Perhaps we look more towards the ACC with UNC, NC State, Duke, FSU, and Louisville. I actually think the SEC and ACC will form a challenge since both are under the ESPN umbrella with the conference networks.

I'd really like to see Vic add an ACC, B1G, and a PAC team to our non-conference schedule even if they aren't at the very top of those conferences. It could certainly help in expanding our exposure into places like Florida, California, Chicago, DC, Carolinas, etc.

Now that the schedule is out we can discuss how good or bad or indifferent the odds are. I actually really like this schedule. Is it on the safer side yea but it still gets what needs to be done done. Like anywhere at any level we have a new gym so I expected for there to be quite a few cupcakes asu, su, tamuc, ULL, & hcu. The Princeton and USF games quality tournament teams. Neutral games are big as well usc and b4a will give 4 games to find out some things about they focus. The true road games Uconn I knew but JSU actually surprised me because I didn’t know it was a home and home. Those 2 games will be tough playing against UConn is always tough but going into a hbcu environment and a team that is on the climb to get respect and they are actually pretty darn good could be a trap. Out conference schedule makes me a lil mad cause sr day will be Baylor & to me it feels like the girls can’t truly enjoy the sr day stuff because having to be sooooo locked in against conf rival.

Shaylee and the Cavinder twins team up to do a video. I am definitely not the target audience for this kind of thing because my biggest takeaway is that Vic’s S&C demands are no joke (duh). I find it a bit funny that the Cavinders are among the highest NIL earners in WBB but are a distant 2nd-3rd to Shaylee on the court.

Looks like Sonya Morris will get a shot at her old team but more importantly this game will be for Uvalde in helping construct a new elementary. I really hope this game sells out or gets close to it. Everytime I think of those poor kids I just get chills through my body.

This exhibition is bigger than basketball and more important than any game we play this season for the simple fact it’s for such a great cause:hookem:

Season starting to get a bit crowded. This is a nice add to the home schedule. Too bad it won't count. We need to show Aneesah Morrow around while she's here too ;) ;) ;):

Have any other season ticket holders received an email about this? According to the article, season ticket holders could buy starting today. I haven't gotten an email, and when I log into my account there's no option for this game.

Also to note that although Gonzales has two years of eligibility left she is listed as a graduate transfer so I assume she will only be playing one season before moving on.

That makes sense, but Shaylee posted this profile in late August stating that she had 2 years of eligibility (maybe because of her medical hardship year?):

She graduated, so they list her as a grad Transfer; Its an honorable distinction from everyone else. I dont think you can assume it reflects her decision on how many years she plans to play. We have no clue.

Thanks for the post! I've been really waiting for this. God only knows how long it'll take for it to get posted online. Maybe its just me, but it seems like Texas WBB hasn't been getting the attention it deserves from the athletic dept. We already lived through the debacle on getting the schedule released this year (absolutely ridiculous). On top of that, Beard has already had 2 pressers this Fall (8/3 and 9/27). But the program that's gone back-to-back with Elite8's still hasn't had their coach put out in front of the media yet? And you know Vic loves to talk about his program, so I doubt he's ever said no to a presser or an interview.

At the 13:30 mark or so, Vic basically says (with respect to assistant coaching hires)

    "Vic gonna Vic"
