IF Ewers plays, the best move is for Cars to start, and if not do well, give Ewers a series to see what happens.
Forget what you saw last Saturday because you'll get a different OU team this Saturday. Whichever Sark, et al think gives us the best chance at winning, but if it isn't Ewers, I'll be pissed. Last year we had multiple great first halves but disappeared in the second half. 48 hours ago we scored 28 against WVU in the first half and 10 in the second half. It's time for "ALL GAS, NO BREAKS" to be for the full 60 minutes.
I want Sark to have a killer instinct Maybe he does but I don't have that impression of him yet If you have the chance, don't just beat a team, crush all their hopes of a comeback
Whichever one starts, I want to see the fake bubble screen and hit the receiver doing a fake block and go down the sideline like colt and Shipley did back in the day. You’d think those two were roommates or something.
That short passing game Sark had to implement is actually pretty impressive. Gives players like Whittington a chance to do their thing. Mix that in with some downfield passing and Bijan.....OU is gonna need professional counseling.
OU seems to have issues with mobile QB’s (as do we). Card is the more mobile of the two and if Ewers is able to play, then perhaps we could install some designed QB runs. If Card starts…. I mean.
7 of the 10 2nd half points came on a lucky break on a pass that should have never been thrown. Worthy was double covered and the pass should have been intercepted.
Does the name Ting ring a bell? Dropped a much easier pick that ultimately allowed 4th and 5 to happen. It happens.
Another big question is, who starts this week as the DC? Pete or Gary? I know on paper it's Pete but....
EDT, Did you watch Patterson Saturday night? The guy walked 20 miles between the 20 yard lines. Never saw him talking to anyone, just pacing with a "damn I miss calling the shots" and "what the f**k was that" looks on his face.
Ewers makes most sense. First, he’s probably better. Second, if he looks terrible, it’s not so hard to replace him with the “not-100%” explanation, so there isn’t the typical confused situation after you pull a starter who isn’t playing well. To me, I thought Sark’s answer in the press conference leaned towards Ewers, but I was reading a small subtlety I thought I heard.
If Ewers starts, performs poorly due to 1. Not being 100% 2. Not taking reps 3. Being rusty in a high pressure environment And Card comes in and does well…. Oh boy here we go. My heart cannot take a lengthy QB debate regarding 18-19 year old kids. I hate the way grown *** adults disparage a kid and not one of us could qualify as QB 50 .. in our prime. Better to have Card start and play as he gets the job done and have Ewers back when he’s healthy and fully up to speed. Like you, I have no idea what’s going on at the practice field and trust Sark. Whomever comes out as the starter IS the correct answer.
I scour the media, Sooner social media … etc. as well. I hate to see this kid get hurt. I do. The bad thing for OU, is Gabe can’t practice under a concussion protocol for x days. So this puts OU in a quandary. If he is cleared, he will be disadvantaged. This is the dark side of OUs continuing use of bringing in a portal QB to start. The backups leave and if your portal gets hurt, you are in trouble. I hate the kids hurt and also happy to see the OU situation bite them in the backsides.
