I'm not turning on him and I don't think many others are either.
But he was obviously off his game and some of would have liked to see Card take over in this game only.

WOW, taking things personal? I was just t blown away by your “worst game in history” comment. Now, did you fail “reading” in school. If not, you may have noticed I said it “rarely” happens. And the Sims game you speak of, he was actually hurt. So , relax Einstein, you are probably much smarter than me.

I guess we all thought we had finally turned the corner. I’m certainly guilty of that. That’s why we’re all frustrated, mad, disappointed again with Eyes of Texas fiasco and our Poop Squad has pedal to the metal. What a vicious cycle we’re in. No choice though, we gotta keep keep rolling. We’ll see what happens vs K State :hookem:

At the beginning of the season most had us going 8-4, 7-6, I even saw a few 6-6.
A decent showing against Bama and a mud stomping of a hapless and QBless OU and suddenly we're championship caliber?
It pisses me off that we lose a game that I feel we should have won.
Yet we were ranked 20th and got beat by the 11th ranked team. Barely.
Still plenty of ranked teams in front of us to prove our metal.

This is one of the more reasonable message boards out there. Have you seen Texags, Dirtburglers, etc. Our nastiest threads wouldn't even make the bottom 25% at the latter in particular.[/QUOTE]
Uh huh. Even if your “objective” assessment/“statistical analysis” is true- Somehow just being less idiotic/ fickle/irrational than Aggy and Dirtburglers is no high praise.

When you think about it, we could very easily be undefeated right now. If Sark had just done one or two things differently in each loss we would be in the top 5.
    so close but no cigar.
    Disappointing.
well maybe if he recruits a team with 6 or 7 first rounders we could make the playoffs.

Ewers is showing a lot of class and maturity for a 19 yo.
PLUS he stayed for the Eyes.

What I wanted and what happened were two different things. I thought Quinn was playing hurt and forcing balls down the field. I wanted better play calling with short passes and a heavy dose of the running game. I wanted Quinn pulled for a few plays to let him get his head straight and give us a chance.
What I got was a QB who couldn’t hit the broadside of the barn, frustrated Receivers and a Coach who had no clue.

Interesting that Sark said he never once thought of putting in Card.
I guess we dumb HFers have to be stuck lumped in with guys like Dabo and Saban while Sark rolls with the smart crowd.

You never once thought about it?
Great coaches make tough choices look easy and poor ones make easy choices look tough (and then predictably say it was easy).
    IDk....something like that.

Whatever it is, I do not think Sark did what a real good or great coach would have done Saturday.

Hope he learns. Im still on board. It was a tough day.

and none of the assistant coaches suggested a QB change? Does Sark have a coach close enough to him that they can freely speak?.
How could none of the coaches not think of replacing Ewers? and we are not talking permanently, just the rest of the game.

Part of the problem may be that Sark is the one calling plays. He is supposed the be the head coach but he’s not seeing the forest through the trees.
I doubt he does have an assistant coach he would listen to.

Clearly he needs a panel of HFers sitting at home with the vantage point of great tv angles on a hotline to do this job properly

Ewers had an off day. This should be expected from a freshman that didn't play last year. I agree Sark should have benched him.

Despite his horrible completion percentage he still put up over 300 yards and two scores. The interceptions killed him.

Sark was a QB himself. Apparently QB’s don’t get pulled but everyone else can. That can negatively affect a team trying it’s butt off to win a game and still be in the hunt.

Sark pulled the QB like three times last year.

    Creek,

I shall refer you to the Mike Mosley years at A&M. See what happens if the team wants the QB benched & the coach doesn't.

    Good post.
For me..it isn't that we are losing even...It is that we are in position to win key games...it is right there for the taking....and we just don't take advantage.
I believe there is a lot different about this team...but this^^^^^^isn't one of them.
The osu and tech losses look exactly like the osu and bu losses last year...nearly identical. Find ways to throw away games you are in a fine position to win and for much of the game look like clearly the -potentially- superior team....but yet lose.

Sark acted like "the mensa"...hard headed...by not pulling Ewers, for the team, and even for Ewers himself.

You either trust Sark, or you don't. He did not pull the QB, he did not adjust his play calling to account for the inaccurate downfield passing. He believes that the value of letting Ewers struggle on the road (with the paddle people in his head) will pay dividends next year and thereafter. He let that happen as an investment to the future. IMO, he is coaching to next year. Its also of note that he observed the lack of effort from some of his receivers to even raise their arms at throws above their reach - quitting on the play - which 8 does often - watch the film. It will be interesting to hear how he handles and communicates with the team this week. I rack it up to a teaching moment, and a huge vote of confidence for his young QB.

We may have turned a corner. That doesn't mean we don't lose to teams with a superior QB (give Ewers a year and he will be the better QB) and a team playing with a massive home field advantage who is well coached, more experienced and was a preseason pick to win the B12 by a lot of "experts". Our team was a picked by most "experts" to finish 3rd or 4th. I picked the Horns to go 8-4. Not many teams are gonna run the table (as many of my Hornfan brethren were predicting on these hallowed threads prior to last Saturday) with a true freshman QB and a back seven riddled with injuries and forced to play freshmen D-backs in a pass happy conference; especially this year when the conference is stronger than it's been in years.
I hate losing. I couldn't get out of a funk after the loss for days. But (on my good days) I try to be a realist and take off my orange-colored glasses and set my glass of orange cool aid down and drink a cup of coffee.
Sark will get it done here. Next year we win the conference. Seriously, the Horns will.
