I know we can't back out, so maybe I'll just watch the games and avoid Finebaum and the likes of these dudes.

Joining the SEC is 1 bazillion percent a money move, I get it and I totally understand the decision, doesn't mean I have to like joining that cesspool.

I am looking forward to the change in scenery the SEC offers. Road trips to Lubbock, Waco and Fort Worth are just meh. Trips across the deep south sound like fun.

Yes, but Ill allow it if it means we can get away from these B12 refs who hate us.

As a Tennessee fan, I've said since day one this is a bad move. Just from a fan base standpoint they are unreasonable and completely lack critical thinking skills at all. I'm not talking some SEC fan's, I'm talking every last one of them...errrr except me.... I completely stopped going to Tennessee message boards probably 10 years ago. I would post some comments about an obvious issue and it was full on attack mode. I'll use the Alabama sack in the endzone that should have been called a safety. Even with pictorial proof of the leg laying on the ground with the ball still in his hand those inbreds would argue non stop without one piece of fact to present. This is why aggy fits in so well over there.

At least here while we have our heated opinions sometimes we can have a mostly civil discourse. Actual intelligent conversations about mostly facts and sometimes feelings. We have people here who have been a part of the program one way or another and know things. I feel like there is a level of trust with some of those details. Those fans are all about feelings and opinions where very little fact comes to light.

It feels like moving into a shady neighborhood where the business environment is super favorable but you don't really want to be seen socializing with the locals.
Some of the chicks are hot too, suitable for the occasional "date" but I'm not introducing her to mom
In short: a bit distasteful all around (for the more refined tastes of many Longhorns among us) but, let's face it, there is money to be made and parties to be crashed.

Whatever happens, let’s all promise eachother to never ever ever chant SEC SEC after a game. I do feel a little dirty for sure but it’s needed to continue recruiting players and the money can’t be denied. I’d love to crash so Paul Finebomb parties :D

No self-respecting Longhorns fan should ever chant that.

My wife and I were in Fayettenam last year. We were on their strip at a bar full of Longhorns having a couple drinks. A group of about 30 of what appeared to be students started chanting SECSECSEC so my wife got pissed and yelled HEY...HEY...HEY and they stopped to look at her. She said we don't do that, we're better than that. Act like you've been there. They looked bewildered and lost.

It's going to happen as the younger crowd starts getting into the group think. It's up to us to be the gate keepers and teach the youth.

A lot of our fans think the money and recruiting will make up for the downsides

    I don't

And if we end up being middle of the pack like we are in the Big 12 we will be stuck in that morass with no exit

Football is a big deal to us, especially those of us who have been regulars since the sixties and the good Mack years. But SEC fans are more like a cluster of religious cults. We are going to a collection of Aggie-like loons.

May God have mercy on us

Best way to combat that is to win on a much more regular, good Mack era manner. That tends to remove the hater ammo.

After aggy made the move to the sec, you saw that logo on pretty much everything they market. aggys I know were wearing as much sec gear as their own. Hell they even bought billboards around the Austin area claiming it as sec country.

Recently a guy at work said to me 'You guys sure don't seem too excited to move, are yall scared?' I reminded him that we're equally loyal to our school and our team. We're not loyal to a conference, and we're definitely not a cult.

Getting people to not yell that is as likely as getting people back to singing “Hail! Hail! The gang’s all here!” In Texas Taps.

Money move yes. I think it also had to do with recruiting. Right or wrong, young men perceive the sec to be the top conference (probably is) & want to play there. Makes it hard going into recruiting wars with uga, roll tide & aggy considering sec vs big 12 minus 2. I get the move...don't like it but I get it.

It is a lot easier to win the Big 12 than the SEC. But Georgia won the NC, so it may be easier to win a NC in the SEC.

I don't like the move, but I think it is a smart move. At least I think it's smart considering the current landscape. Who knows how it will look in 10 years. Considering how poorly we've done in the Big XII I dont see how we can do any worse in the SEC. And I'll be more excited to play Auburn or Florida than I ever was to play Baylor or Kansas. So most Saturdays will be met with greater anticipation than some of them are in the Big XII. And I'm definitely glad to be playing the Aggies again. As much as I disrespect all their phony BS, I missed beating them.

SEC? We just think OU sux.
Those people sit around thinking of novel ways to be cs.
This is going to be a bad marriage with no chance of annulment or divorce

the short drive to games in the SWC got kicked to the curb by the big 12 move. Now it will be flights and the games will make a lot of money—more commercial breaks to sell zhit but fewer people will get to go to them
The traditions got killed off with finality when we started planting the opposing bands up in the nosebleed freeze to death section

this is going to really suck. But the money will be good. Next up: a casino on campus. Then maybe a cathouse

Maybe we picked the best conference to go to, maybe we didn’t…..but no way we could stay in the Big XII.

The Green Pastures we dream of are the same ones Arkansas and A&M dreamed of.
I think we do a little better but not what we dream

our new foes are for sure going to enjoy the enhanced recruiting opportunities in Texas
