Thought Id see a nice piece on a Texas player, but no, they have to act like its Fing 1960 or some sh*t and turn Logan into Rosa Parks. And shes biracial. Shes not black. She grew up in an affluent neighborhood. Jesus. The power, passion and POTUS ambition of Logan Eggleston
Reading that article one wonders how Logans mother could say she has no idea what it feels like to be a person of color. I mean, she's been married to a person of color for at least a quarter century. It also sounds like she was an absentee mother oblivious to her daughters childhood. It also sounds like Brentwood Tennessee is racist as hell. Im sure the people there really appreciate that.
Brentwood, an affluent city of about 45,000 people, is nearly 87% white, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Holy cow: 87% white, and likely 13% black. Pretty much typical America before the hoard of immigrants from Latin America, Africa, and Asia that started in the 1980’s.
It wasn't that people called them ugly -- or any other name -- to their faces. The Eggleston sisters just didn't get the same attention their white friends did. They didn't have boyfriends growing up. And they didn't have role models to follow. Those comments and glances already made Logan feel like an "other." Hard to take this seriously from a star HS athlete. Dumb and ugly kids apparently don’t count in her world.
I have a home in Williamson County where Brentwood is located. Franklin is also largely affluent white families. The public schools are exceptional. Brentwood High had 23 national merit scholars when we toured it with our daughter 10 years ago. There is very little crime. Property is expensive, but property taxes are low and there is no state income tax. While mostly white, I do not think it is at all racist. ESPN always needs to pull the race card.
I know the place (metaphorically) - bored white kids lip synching to rap music, using the n word to sound ghetto.
Lived in Williamson Co for almost 20 years and still have a place there when not in Katy. It’s definitely white dominate but I never thought of it as racist. Might be me in a shell but I can tell you the black athletes were worshipped equal to whites. My some played baseball and football there and never an issue with anyone that I know of although considering what I have heard on here perhaps my mind was not open enough. I don’t know. It was, imo, great place to raise kids, not many blacks is a fact but the ones we did associate with were all good kids from great parents.
I’ll also add that Franklin is a civil war town so there is lots of civil war history there. The high school mascot was the Rebels until a couple of years ago. And as Nash posted, heavy involvement from parents. The principal of her high school was a black female and she would always ask for parents to “not drop out” of their kids school just because they were in high school. Parenting, not race, is the key to high performing schools.
Try watching women's sports on LHN. Or, don't bother, unless you want to be told how hard they all had it and how racist everyone is.
@2003TexasGrad not sure why the "WTF" on my post. The video you posted is exactly what I am talking about. That came on a few weeks ago as I was watching a VB game. I turned it off.
One good thing about Wmson Co, ie Franklin, Tenn. https://www.newschannel5.com/news/f...ash-and-grab-robbery-at-cool-springs-galleria
Great law enforcement that is fully supported by the community. I’m guessing Dunterious was not from the area.
I notice the story didn't mention Dunterious' race. Not sure if they thought it was wrong to do so, or simply unnecessary.
