Good to see my Alma Mater at #6. Go Patriots!

There is some stout competition in this state.

It's fair to say that the State of Texas is the #2 producer of top level high school talent in the country, behind only California. Florida might argue otherwise. Houston seems to produce lots of top pitchers, especially high velocity pitchers.

An interesting thing about California high school baseball is that much of the very top talent is concentrated in the Catholic high schools.

This one is actually pretty cool--it's from a Catholic youth baseball camp.

"And if thou shalt be one of the State's top 10 players, thou shalt turn down the $5 million MLB offer, and instead take thy bat and thy glove to Notre Dame. And if Notre Dame shalt turn thee down, then Gonzaga, Loyola, or Boston College would be an acceptable alternative for thine talents." (spoken by the priest in Latin)

More data on the quality of California Catholic school baseball.

4 of the top 10 teams in California HS baseball are Catholic schools, and 1 is a Lutheran school.

We've been tapping the California Catholic school pipeline nicely in recent years, as evidenced by the following players:

Lucas Gordon went to Notre Dame high school.
Chuck Hurley went to Jesuit high school
Guillemette went to Servite high school

    Class of '23 recruits:
MJ Sweeny went to St. Augustine
Casey Borba went to Orange Lutheran
