No confidence in Dak's ability to have two near-perfect games in a row. Quinn's defense will give Purdy fits all day.

Purdy is on a roll - and has the 49ers clicking on all cylinders. The Cows will find it extremely difficult to win on their home field.

This won’t be close. SFO will dominate, and win by three touchdowns.

Purdy is playing great but I think he will make some rookie mistakes against a better pass rush than he has faced thus far. Problem is -- SF has a great defense, too, and great skill position players on offense. I think it's going to be tough sledding for both teams.

Is Jerrah still the owner (wannabe coach)? Then SF by as much as they want.

One win against a crap team from a crap division doesn't mean the Cowboys are baaaa-aaaack.

    pulling for the Cowboys.
    hate San Francisco.
    proud of Purdy however.
I think the playmakers for Frisco will out shine those of the Cowboys.

SanFranciscos run game is VERY good and Shanahan is in the zone working magic. Purdy will struggle some against this defense but Dallas' injuries (mostly on defense) will weigh. Dak plays good but not perfect like last week. If Dallas shows up w same energy and swag as they did against the Bucs...maybe. Think Dallas wins this at home? Shanahan+McCaffrey+Kittle+Deebo > McCarthy+Dak+Zeke/Pollard+CeeDee.... but its close.
SFs D and run game makes up for Purdys struggles vs Dallas D and SF wins a hard fought contest still in doubt in the 4th.
Dallas significant injuries the past month or two cannot he overstated in importance. Now Kearse is banged up on an already shuffled secondary and Peters is likely out forcing more moves again on the oline.
(I personally had SF winning the Super Bowl going into the playoffs but would be thrilled if they lose this weekend and my confidence in them hoisting the trophy w Purdy is waning). As for now...an extra days rest on one side and a cross country trip on less rest on the other..

    SF. 24
    Dallas. 20

(But if Dallas somehow wins this....WATCH OUT!!)

It's all about SFO's run game. Reminds me of our stable of 2005 running backs minus VY. They could literally hand it off or pitch it to whoever has the hot hand and I don't think the Cowboys will have near as much success against it as they did against Tampa.

Because Green Bay kind of gave that template for how to beat the Cowboys, I think it'll look a lot like that game without needing OT. Purdy will probably have <200 passing yards, but very few mistakes too. Their D will smother Pollard and Zeke.

    49ers 27
    Cowboys 16

Only 4 rookie QBs have made it to the conference championship game:
Shaun King, Ben Roethlisberger, Joe Flacco, Mark Sanchez

...And fwiw none of those were victorious in that game

I picked SF above, but that is quite a stat...and not that surprising

I don't get the hate for the Cowboys. You can hate the owner, but the team?

It sure seems like a lot of energy goes into Cowboys hating. My social media lights up anytime they are losing a game or anything negative happens and chiding the fans is relentless. When they’re winning it’s crickets

Most of my class supports Dallas, a few support SF. If we lose, I promised not to fail the SF supporters. However, Eagles fans might be treated differently......:smile1:

I grew up obsessed with the Cowboys, close — but not equal — to my longhorn obsession.

Something happened with the ownership change and the way Landry was replaced, and later Johnson was dismissed. Bush league. The manner in which Jones had to show everyone his genius simply nauseated me.

Since then I have had an illogical and visceral dislike of the team. It’s linked to Jarrah and his egotistical mishandling of the team.

My younger self would never believe that I could root for the Niners and against the Cowboys. But that’s what I will be doing. I simply have no desire to see Dallas win and advance.

Did it occur to you that maybe the cowboys have deserved the hate?
I grew up watching Landry and was a solid fan until Jerry let Jimmy Johnson go, that fact and the fact they never really drafted some great Longhorns over the years, sealed their fate with me.
Not to call out cowboy fans, but there are better managed and owned teams to pull for.

Saw my first Cowboy game in the Cotton Bowl. Cows were playing the packers in the NFC Championship game. Dandy Don was the qb. My buddies and I got end zone seats for $10.

The pack won by a touchdown. It was close. A heartbreaker.
But not as big a heartbreak as the loss to SF when Montana threw the td pass to Dwight Clark in the last two minutes to beat the Cows in another NFC championship game.

I’ve had an irrational dislike for the niners ever since.
    In an upset: Cows 20
    Niners 17

I too lost some of my fandom when Jerrah sent Jimmy Johnson packing, but I would still love nothing more than to see the Cowboys send the 49ers home. "The Catch" was one of the low points of my early teenage years....

Fan or not, you need to read Jimmy Johnson's book: SWAGGER. Got it for Christmas.

Will answer a lot of questions about Jerrah buying the Cowboys, Firing Landry, Jimmy, Jimmys approach to NFL coaching, Troy, Emmit, Irwin, Superbowls, the breakup, Switzer, etc.

    Great book IMO.

I don't think it really matters a lot who wins the NFC. The AFC champ - Kansas City, Buffalo, or Cincinnati - will win the Super Bowl.
