Refs big factor tonight. Hard to lose to such a trashy fan base and team. We need to kick their a#%es on the return trip.

Wow, this was disappointing. Vic had no coaching answers, then the girls did the rest by giving them over 20+ points at the line. Unbelievable that Texas doesn't know how to play cleaner in close games like this. All around, this one will take a while for me to swallow.

Classy Tech players with the horns down. Matches their crowd who boo’d the Texas team pregame (no surprise there).

Nah. We fouled every time they drove the basket and we couldn’t get the ball inside. That wasn’t the refs that was coaching and execution.

That’s not entirely fair. Were they bad? No question. But Vic allowed them to control the game. We weren’t turning them over at a high rate so the press was ineffective tonight. Scott was too quick or too experienced for every single 4 or 5 player we put on her and that’s what lost us the game.

I am convinced that a zone would’ve won us this game tonight but Vic is too stubborn to do anything else. As proud as I have been if this team, it’s equally disappointing to see them regress tonight.

She also played for Vic at MSST -- so I'm guessing it means a little more for her.

Tech did exactly what they needed to do to win...made the game ugly. We helped cause we had problems scoring the ball.
It's just one game, the 5th of I beleive of 18 conference games.
As bad as I feel I'm sure the team feels worse.
    I need to calm down...lol

Bre' Scott gets the game ball, Ashley gets the drumstick (ok, sorry, but its my turn to act like a classy Tech fan).

Well, going forward Vic better have a plan, because we just saw what every other Big 12 team saw. Seems pretty simple to beat us...play zone and drive to the basket. I can't think of many times it didn't work.:e-face-tears:

Great point. It's one of the few issues that I have with Vic in terms of a coach. When you don't switch things up sometimes, the opponent doesn't have to think and adjust. IMO this team doesn't have the overall footspeed/athleticism on the perimeter that the others had.

Which is why you see all the fouling to try to keep the ball handler in front of them. And when you don't shoot the ball consistently well from the perimeter, and don't run or play a zone yourself, then you're not going to be effective against a zone.

I thought every other conference team already knew this. And if they don't find a shooting stroke from the perimeter in a couple of days, it's going to be a blow out on the road against Baylor.

I was just about to sign off but I have to add my 2 cents about "zone defenses". They only work if you can't score the ball from the perimeter. a better field goal % and conversation would be different. We like scoring in the paint and Tech made the decision to pack the paint and force us to shoot well, which we didn't.
    Good night yall

Remember how this movie always ends:
20-2021: Tech wins their "super bowl", then loses 9 out of the next 12 games
21-2022: Tech wins their "super bowl", then loses 14 out of the next 17 games
    Karma is really a thing.

That gives me some solace knowing that we’ll be playing in March and they won’t. But I would also like to see us take that next step as a program of beating overmatched teams on the road in hostile environments. As much as Vic preaches about “Texas gets everyone’s best shot” you’d like to think that we’d be better prepared for it by now.

This was one I was worried about us dropping because we have Baylor, OU and OSU to close out January and all of those games could be L’s if we play like this

We can pick this apart whichever way. This lose is worst than OSU in my opinion even tho every lose counts as 1. I stated that I noticed a different approach to this game and as a whole we just didn’t get up for it. Somebody made a comment that we should do like volleyball and make this a business trip but nothing about how we played as a whole indicated business trip. I’m a creature of habit so I believe everything should have been normal or as usual. No promo video or pics or Vic not doing a presser helped make this a perfect storm.

Positives Amina did show up maybe not in the stat sheet but she and Sonya played extremely hard. I know Sonya had TO’s but she was being aggressive. Rori did hunt her shot and it will start to fall.

Ok hopefully my last one I’m ranting. Vic has to do better and sometimes that means change. I respect him and look up to him heck I even steal out of bounds plays and try to apply his press principles to my team. He has said in some pressers that he has been questioning hisself to a certain extent. No I’m not saying abandon ship but some tweaking may do this team some good. He says he’s been doing is for years and he’s been doing it the same way etc..... but it’s like do you want to do it your way or win? Cause out of the 2 and a half seasons you’ve been here this is the most talented we’ve had but it’s not working YET. How do we get it to come together?

Of course I am disappointed that we lost to Texas Tech. It took place in a tough and hostile environment and hopefully the team will learn and grow from this experience. I believe that a contributing factor in tonight's loss was that we kind of had a let-down after our hard-fought win over Iowa State. We played so well against Iowa State....it had to be such an emotional high for the team and tonight had to be such a frustrating experience for the players and coaches. I don't like to lose .....but sometimes it happens. And when it happens, you just have to re-focus, pick yourself up, and get back to the task of achieving the goals you have set for yourself. When you are on a team on a mission, it is the same process and I expect our team to bounce back. It's a long season and there are no off nights in the Big 12. Every team is capable of beating any team in the league and every team is capable of losing on any given night.
I just love watching our team play and I am going to support the girls and coaching staff even during the times we struggle. We have a very good team (and high expectations) and yet I know there are going to be ups and downs and that the "downs" can be very frustrating and disappointing at times. But it's a process and it takes time.....I believe our team will get there. Enjoy the ride. We, the fans, are blessed to have such outstanding, talented young ladies and top-notch coaches representing our team, university, and community. Onward and upward next game mentality.

No let-down. We just didn't have an effective offensive answer to their zone D. And the double-digit TOs and cold 3pts doomed us.
