I got my fill of the applause/standing ovation thing pretty much immediately. I kept expecting the audience to break into a “four legs good, two legs bad” chant.
It was suggested that instead of a Pelosi ripping up the SOTU speech McCarthy should have tied it to a balloon and let it drift away.
I watched highlights of the speech. At least what I saw was mediocre at best. He got some decent lines in there, but he looked bad several times. The heckling was overdone by the GOP, but they were justified on the Social Security/Medicare comment. That was friggin' ********. Overall, I'd give him a C-. Could have been worse but could have been much better. I thought Sanders was a B. She hit hard and was likeable enough but not lovable. I think she's better in a setting like arguing with journalists where being a badass is more important than being personally charming. Her content was decent, but I think she needed to more directly tie some of the crazy wokeness stuff to specific acts of the Biden Administration, which wouldn't be particularly hard. Not bad but could have been significantly better. In all fairness, most SOTU responses are mediocre to lame, so on that scale, I'd say she was better than average. The only really good one I've ever seen was Christine Todd Whitman's response to Bill Clinton way back in 1995. I'm not a big fan of hers (though I'm fine with her being governor of a blue state like NJ), but her response was about as good as it gets. She rallied the troops and horsewhipped Clinton, but she came across as warm and sincere. She looked a lot better at the end of the night than he did.
The dress is ridiculous, but yes, she's sexy. I know some of you would prefer Katie Britt. She's a R, and she's a little younger. But there's an inner skank in Sinema that I can definitely see the appeal of.
Your standard is too high for the context. She's a Senator. You don't compare her to models. You compare her to people like to Patty Murray or Tammy Duckworth. Other than Sinema and Britt, it's unattractive old ladies and lesbians.
It isn't so much that. I do like bustiness. I don't deny that. The lack of it is probably the biggest reason why I kinda shrug about Farrah. The big thing is that there are diminishing returns on skinniness, and it doesn't trump everything. Some of the unattractive old ladies and lesbians in the s Senate might be thinner than Sinema, but that's not going to overcome the fact that they're unattractive old ladies and lesbians, especially when she's busty, kinda pretty, and a little on the trashy side.
