I see this all the time when the team on defense (UT in this case) has a lead of 3 or more points. Horns need to rebound a missed FT; and dribble out the clock or hold it while the last seconds run out. Or shoot FT's and force OU (with no time outs) to get up court and make a shot. Typically, the team in ou's position must make a shot from half court to tie. I'll take those odds.

I am happy to let Terry keep the job for now. Let's see how the year pans out. I am simply saying that the ou game was not the Horns best game. They must improve on that performance or they will be one and done in the Big Dance.

Way too soon to make a decision on Terry one way or the other. That would be Aggyesque. Let the season play out and go from there.

This ou game was not a good indication of anything beyond maintaining poise as the Zebras took over the game. Not saying it was poorly officiated against us...it was simply a case of the Zebras deciding to star. There were 44 fouls called, more than 1 foul called per minute. Totally destroyed the flow of the game.

Yep, our two big men (Disu & Bishop) were taken out of the game and saddled with two fouls within the first 5 minutes of the game (among other things).

That sounds like a good strategy, but saying, "... it is your job now; we will tell you at some point in the future for how long." Recruits want to know how safe the HC is and for how long.

This! Seems like a no brainer to foul when up by 3 and less than 10 seconds on the clock. Yes, it's extending the game but the odds of everything that has to go right for the team that's behind are way lower than simply allowing that team to get off an open look, or even a contested look, at the end of regulation.

Go back and look at when OU got the ball on their final possession in regulation time. According to ESPN play by play, OU grabbed their final defensive rebound with 21 seconds left on the clock, not less than 10 seconds. They took a well defended 2 point shot with 16 seconds remaining, rebounded, took another defended 2 point shot with 13 seconds (missed again) rebounded with 11 seconds, and kicked the ball out for the tying 3 point shot, which was made with 7 seconds remaining.

Our defense was in scramble/rebound mode, not "foul when up by 3 with less than 10 seconds on the clock" mode. We would have had to foul in the act of shooting, which would have been stupid beyond belief.

OU's original plan was hit a 2 pointer, foul and force us to make free throws. As it turned out, they managed the three because we couldn't collect the rebound when we really needed to. To me, that's the criticism that would be worth discussing, although with Disu fouled out, we didn't have our best rim protector/rebounder available.

If people want to criticize the coaches, have at it. But at least know a tiny little bit about what the hell actually happened during the game before leveling your criticisms, please.

OK. Where was the time out by Terry in the last minute of regulation. He might have set some play to get Rice, our best shot by far in this game, the ball. He might have reminded Hunter or Rice to not let OU get a 3 pt attempt. Give up the 2 but not the 3. Trrry have several dead balls to call a TO and get his team to run something beside Carr isi and a prayer. Carr has having a terrible shooting night. Rice was the hot hand and our very best FT player. Get the ball.

the same thing in OT. Call a damn TO.

Ironically Coach Terry is 7-0 in games decided by 5 or less points

If we have now moved the goalposts and have begun arguing over whether or not Terry should have called a time out at some point during the last minute of regulation, then fine. I got nothing.

Too bad we kicked Beard out the door, those would have all been easy double digit wins if he were still here. [sic] :whiteflag:

Beard-coached teams are known for biting, scratching, and clawing their way to victory.
