This is from the email for season ticket holders about reserving seats for the Regionals:

In addition to all the pics of Sonya posted yesterday, it looks like Shaylee posted this pic on one of her social media accounts Sunday afternoon:
    squad | shayleegonzales

So at a minimum, this tells me Sonya is dressing out and participating in meetings with the team. Let's hope for a comeback pretty soon, even if its limited minutes of the bench.

I'm surprised that Gail was much better than Karen at the 100 game mark. My KA-colored glasses must have tricked me.

Karen had a remarkably bad first season. She really began turning things around her second season.

I tried to tell the Sonja worriers 3 weeks ago not to waste your time. There is ALOT more to it. If you speak Vic you would have picked that up from the get go.

Somewhat related:Vic's success also come with a serious grind that has a short shelf life to it.
Crystal Taylor, Lauren Ebo, Matharu, Audrey Warren ,and now Hunter were all starters or key contributors for Elite 8 teams and yet chose to transfer somewhere else. That doesn't even include Ashley Chevalier and Kobe King.
That's why it is worthless to project future rosters.Expect an average of 3 defectors a year.

Normally I pick up on stuff like that. I knew Hunter wouldn’t be returning from the beginning but the thing with Morris is that she was at the net cutting ceremony with the team and she just posted on her instagram story when our opponent was announced for the tournament so I’m a bit confused on this one. Texas needs her so I hope it isn’t a case where she leaves the team.

Vic's style isn't for everyone... but name me a coach whose style is. These days it's not uncommon for seniors to choose to play elsewhere for their extra year, or not play an extra year at all. Of the others you named, only Matharu was a big loss. Hunter, although very talented, was NEVER a key contributor. She missed her chance at obtaining that status this season due to whatever personal issues she had.

We all know the whole Chevalier saga was about playing time, yet she chose to run to Lubbock and warm their bench. Kobe never got her feet under her with the injuries so that situation was a non-factor also.

It's a new world with the portal rules that now exist, and those rules work for both sides. For all we know some of those transfers out may have actually been encouraged or at least stemmed from the one-on-one conversations.

It's not unusual for a program to see transfers in and out during the first few years under a new staff. Typically that new staff is trying to build a roster with players that are a fit. The portal has just made the transfers easier and more common.

Have any of you season ticket holders that preordered tickets to the First and Second Rounds gotten your seat assignments yet? My credit card transaction hit early this morning so I’ve been expecting an email today

The seat assignment showed up in the Longhorn app, but they're not download-able yet. Unfortunately our wonderful seats for the regular season are being blocked out for one of the other teams' fanbase.

Karen took over a very mediocre team, so I don't count that first year against her. She did a good job the few years after that and put us back on the national map.

Who are the "Sonya worriers?" Isn't that all of us? Don't we all want her back because she makes our team better? And what is the "ALOT more" that you refer to? Vic just spoke yesterday in a very positive manner about Sonya's possible return. I take that at face value. I'm sure no one wants to see Sonya come back more than Sonya herself. To imply that there is "ALOT more" to this makes no sense unless you are referring to the fact that the injury was significant and one that can be unpredictable. But you can't tell me this is some kind of issue between Vic and the player. Also, Celeste Taylor transferred to go play closer to home. Ebo and Warren had Supersenior seasons to burn and already had two Elite8 rings on their hands thanks to Vic's style, so they likely decided to go elsewhere for their final season where the conditioning requirements were not as high and the practices not as intense, and yes, maybe the coach wouldn't expect as much from them. Matharu left when Vic brought in two guards from the portal with much better resumes. Chevalier was a flake who couldn't accept it when an All-American came in and took her spot as a freshman. Look at what happened to her when she went to a coach that doesn't push her. She's badly overweight, can't get up and down the floor like a guard should, and gets put into games only when they need a body to foul someone. She had her best days under Vic (the guy that pushes you to be your best). And Hunter was never a starter or key contributor. Kobe never got to play because of injuries and likely saw the handwriting on the wall when Vic was recruiting great portal players. We could get a coach that sits around and plays kumbaya with everyone. I believe the one from TCU is now available. But that won't win you championships. Results-wise, Vic is one of the top 5 WBB coaches in the country. If people want to leave because they don't like the grind or want more playing time, they can go somewhere else and live with whatever that coach can help deliver. It is much better that way for us because it opens up a spot for someone who is willing to work hard because they really want to win championships. Sonya said herself during her LHN interview that when she was being recruited, Vic was very honest about the way things were in his program and she said she appreciated that honesty. This is her last year of eligibility and she is a fierce competitor. No way her absence has anything to do with anything other than a really unfortunate injury.

I’m pretty confident the only thing keeping Sonya off the court is a medical clearance. She came here to expand her game (learn defense for starters) because she wants to go on to the next level and she knew Vic and his staff could grow her game (according to her). To imply something else and remain vague about it is BS trolling in my opinion. If you’re going to make an accusation, make it or STFU.

Another <25 poster trying to drag up crap at the end of the season. Gotta wonder why. Also, have to wonder why if you're not in it for the grind, then why the heck are you playing?

Injuries. All coaches qualify their seasons with that big if. Look at UCONN and NOTRE DAME and IOWA STATE and others. Nobody feels sorry for those teams. I’m a huge MAVS fan but if Doncic and Irving don’t get back asap, then they don’t even make play-in tournament. Same with James and Lakers and others. Horns have a chance. They will be a tough out. With Harmon hurt early, Moore out, Hunter never, Morris iffy……this season has been character building for players/coaches/fans. It sure appears today that Horns will be challenged to score against Louisville and Stanford (again). Everyone identified early that back-up point guard and outside shooting could bite the team. Everyone was correct as of today. Harmon’s outside shooting regression, and Morris being out has exacerbated the team’s weakness. Anybody think Horns won’t see defense sagging off Harmon and pressuring Holle and Gonzalez won’t be the strategy? Regardless if zone or man. The Horns have a chance and will play hard and be a tough out. If the inability to score bites, like it did against Stanford last year, the Morris loss can be pointed to. We’re good enough to beat Louisville without Morris. I’m hoping she can play limited minutes against Stanford to provide a threat. It will be interesting to watch unfold and see what actually is written about the 2022-23 season.

Aargh! Can we stop talking about Louisville until we beat ECU? I’m having flashbacks to the Indiana loss in 2018 (or 17?) when the game ended with Sug Sutton falling on her face as time expired … and the GG-coached loss to San Diego State …and the Shaka Smart loss to ACU. And don’t forget that Walz’s game plan shut down Britney Griner … Guess I’ll be hyperventilating until we’re up by a lot in the 4Q of the ECU game! :bevo::hookem:

Ugh. Came back from vacation to watch the game on ESPN+ and I can't bear to go to the game thread to comment because....what positive thing can be said? Just want to bury this and say they had a trying year and hopefully this will put some umpfh into next year's team, whomever they may be made up of. Do I root for Duke now because of Celeste Taylor?

Somewhere in these threads, someone referred to the team as "mediocre." Despite the appalling performance against Louisville, I beg to differ. I consider mediocre to be a .500 or lower record. Six of 10 teams in the B12 made the tournament and 9 of 10 had a winning season record. A seventh, Tech, is still winning in the WNIT. So the conference is hardly mediocre. We are seeing the results of 50 years of Title IX - pretty much any school in a Power 5 conference can put together skilled players and have a .500-plus season because all those kids have been dribbling a basketball since they were toddlers. And lots of other schools can have a winning season because not every kid wants to play at a co-called big time school. And there's all the other factors of today related to mental health, willingness to work as hard as Vic and other coaches demand, normal burnout, maturity .. Of course, I believe we're Texas and we should always be at the top, but I don't think we're mediocre. Looking forward to next year with AMo and the new kids on the court. :coolnana:

Lots of top four seeds went out in the second round this year, including two top seeds. I am disappointed in our showing against L'ville, but overall I rate this season successful (not outstanding) considering all the factors. Looking forward to the upcoming portal and recruiting season.

Who do I root for now?
Iowa - ugh. How much more can the networks slurp over Clark. Ugh, no.
Notre Dame - eeehh. Maybe because Ebo is on that team?
    LS - No. No way.
    UConn - No. Whiny Gino.
    VTech - Nah. Posers
South Carolina - meh. I just want them to spank, publicly and loudly, Mulkey under a national broadcast. Again.
