I keep reading that he is a die hard lsu person so that is disappointing if it stays that way. Some of you are fans of pk but I am not one of those. We got some teams at very weak points this year to boost his d performance ranking. We should have a monster d next year based on talent but I have no confidence that pk can produce results. The bama game was the best we looked on d this year and I think its also the worst that bama looked on offense. Hope my concerns are alleviated but we dont have GP any longer.
I saw distinct improvement from year one to the next and I think it will continue. The defense is playing more like a team rather than individuals. yes that first season for PK was downright ugly but I see possibilities. It's coming together.
What we need is several years of consistency with the coaching staff. PK is proven The D he inherited was not. Last year was a huge improvement
Pomspoms, there had to be improvement because we were 99 in pks first year. I believe that may have been the worst d in Texas history? That was a huge drop from the year before when we were 40. Last year we were at 54 but as I stated, we got several super weak teams that ordinarily would have put up yards and points (ou is a huge *). So last year how much was GP or how much was PK? None of us can honestly say. What I do know is we have a very talented D this year and if it is not vastly improved then Texas will have issues for sure. For those who are pk lovers, if you are right then Texas is in good shape.
The word from Washington fans when PK came here was that we would not be happy with his first year, and that we would see an improvement in year 2. For these eyes, that’s exactly what happened. I’m in his camp, and I expect to see continued improvement this year. Heck, at times during the 2nd half of the 22 campaign, the D was stellar. And there were some games, like TCU, in which we saw elite performances.
OLB’s and Edge players are the most affected by change of scheme. Totally different assignment responses. PK runs a push-push on the front seven. Some people adapt quickly, others not so much. And the talent fits are completely hodge podge. His system works great with the right personnel and not worth a damn without. We’ll see, but the edge/LB recruits we’ve brought in are perfect fits. You can’t teach speed.
