Should we pursue her? I mean, Vic could probably teach her to play better defense. She might even get a valid DPOY award.
Exactly. Like I said, quality fives are hard to come by these days. We're all just expressing our wish lists.
On my IG account, JJQ just started following Jak. And Jak + Zach Zillner now follow JJQ. Anyone else see the same?
ISU is a Ryan transfer away from the portal being a disaster. Unless Finnelly performs a miracle with the portal ISU is gonna suck next year.
I don't see any "new" activity on JJ Quinerly's followings/followers no matter how many times I refresh. But, on Zillner's page and Ndjakalenga's page, I see that both are following JJ; first time I've visited their IG pages in forever. Don't see JJ as a follower on either of their pages (yet).
Gia Adams is from Jersey Village (same class as Rori); they probably played against each other growing up in NW Houston area. She shot 25% for 3-point range as a freshman, and upped that to 32% this past season. Shot free throws at 79% a clip. I could see her landing at school in Texas. I do now see on her page that she is following Aaliyah and Rori; guess I didn't scroll down far enough earlier. She might just be in town for an official visit (assuming she has officially entered the portal) . . .
After Quinerly, Rori has also started following Oregon junior guard, 5'9 Te-Hina Paopao, and vice versa; not read anything that she is a transfer candidate, but Oregon missed the tourney this season. Obviously, Rori has probably met many of Oregon's players due to her significant other. Still worth watching . . . Te-Hina Paopao - Women's Basketball - University of Oregon Athletics (goducks.com)
Maybe this?... "Players can opt to add a “do not contact” designation on their transfer portal entry, which means schools are unable to communicate with that player unless the player initiates communication first. The transfer portal database is private and cannot be accessed by the public."
Ok, so this is getting significant. This morning, when I noticed she started following Jak in the last 24 hours, JJQ was following 970 accounts. I did a search on the whole team and she was NOT following Rori and Amo, at least as of this morning. Now after reading kurupt's find, I just checked and she is now following 973 accounts. And I just ran a search and, yes, she is now following Rori and Amo. So 2 of those 3 new follows were today and they were follows of team leaders. Moooooo may be correct that she could be here on an official visit.
As a dabbler compared to most, I can’t get too excited anymore until there’s official word. Been down this road too many times…Cardoso, Rickea, Vasconcelos, etc. Sorry if that makes me a…
Yeah, I mentioned the "Do Not contact" option possibility on Tuesday as it seems only our coaching staff started following her that day; that doesn't mean the other coaches with access to the portal can't see her name is new to the prtal. While the portal is not supposed to be accessed by the public like you stated, so many (coaches) who have access to the portal sometimes share their logon credentials with non-coaches, or share the info of who entered the portal but chose not to be contacted by any coaches. And, of course, most players make announcements on social media that they have entered the portal. Assuming Quinerly is in the portal, I'm surprised it hasn't been leaked.
Went back to look at Zach Zillner's IG account. He doesn't follow many people. Prior to following JJ, there was Shaylee Gonzales' Dad. Zillner following JJ is what made me think she might be visiting this weekend.
Looks like I finally see a "refreshed" list of JJ Quinerly's recent followers to confirm what other were seeing the last couple of days: Rori Aaliyah Zach Zillner Ndjakalenga And, what we saw starting Tuesday or so: Sydney Carter Jordana Codio Blair Schaefer Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton Elena Lovato
I saw a few "hope she stays" posts like this last week on twitter. Ironically, in this photo, she is surrounded by players who might be future teammates.
Great summary! And one more to add this morning. She gained a follower early this morning - Mia Morales, who is a Texas WBB manager. I think they are students who spend the whole season with the team helping with the dirty work (so to speak) like equipment management, etc... Later this morning, JJQ reciprocated with a follow of Mia as well. Maybe I'm wrong, but for those two to have met, it just seems like we would have had to have had a welcomed visitor this weekend.
That’s 3 Duke players, correct? Duke has a really good incoming class but I wouldn’t think Day-Wilson would be intimidated by that. Lawson also has done well in the Portal. Day-Wilson was a high school teammate of Latasha Lattimore.
Wow. She had a great freshman campaign. Didn't hear much about her this season. Will probably reunite with Lattimore at Miami. I hear they are strong with NIL deals
Elena Lovato recently started following Boston college Tania Mair who recently entered the portal. She’s a 5’9 freshman pg who averaged 11.1 ppg and averaged 6.6 assists on the season and a total of 65 steals. Harmon had 72 on the year to put that into perspective.
Excellent content in this thread! Thanks, all, for your research and contributions. Can't wait until some of these reports lead to signings.
Nobody has a better recollection or timeline on this? I thought maybe she could have added that plane emoji for the sub-regional, but WVU drove to College Park, MD. Maybe she's had it since the week of the Big 12 tourney, and none of us noticed it all these weeks?
Good catch. Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton was the recruiting coordinator at BC prior to coming to Texas last summer, so she definitely would have a relationship with her. Taina is from the Boston area, so distance wouldn't be in our favor. Taina Mair - Women's Basketball - Boston College Athletics (bceagles.com)
I had a fantasy that Celeste would use the bonus year to come back to Texas for "unfinished business". Bummer.
