I am going to go out on a limb ( and I really don’t have to go far) and predict that Miami will not get 3/4ths of the calls they got in this game against UConn.

My hope for the final is SDSU v. UConn.

(Not that the great basketball deities will pay me any mind.)

No kidding, that call against Cunningham for blocking out was pure BS. WTF do those refs thing blocking out is?

Not sure what post this is in reference to but this is Beards team, not terrys. The teams he put together have just barely been 500 teams. He was put in a very promising position with beard going bonkers so he took advantage of the opportunity offered. No harm, no foul. Now CDC has to go thru the process and get Texas the best coach. Maybe its terry, maybe its not.

Agree about Disu being sorely missed especially based on how dominant he has been in the tourney.

Ok. Sorry I missed that. I don't count things that happened ten years before I was born I guess (1958). Those appearances have nothing to do with the program today or what we've been in the modern era.

Hats off to Miami. They played great down the stretch, we did not. Lots of factors but just give them credit and on to next year. Great year for Texas. We lose a lot of talent off this team so next year should be more challenging.

Big picture it was a great year that exceeded all my expectations and in a couple of days I will look back fondly on this team and this season but right now it just really hurts and I am just really disappointed.

It’s a huge issue when your team does not adjust to how the refs are calling a game. Texas did not adjust. Texas also stopped driving the ball to the hoop in the second half. They play best in the transition game.

That cant be true. We have a interim coach who is a 500 lifetime coach. No way he let that happen. Sorry, this one was too easy to hit at the group who want rt just because he is there. I want the best there is but CDC gets to make the final call. Pretty sure he will check with me before making a hire...lighten up francis!

Nope we could not get stops & also stopped driving the ball to the basket..Texas thrives in the transition game.

The call reversal was major. If not, their big man is out, it’s Texas’ ball without their two point free throws. Cunningham falling backwards and the other player goes over the top of him. That reversal was a major deal. Made Nance happy. He called it.

And played much of the second half with 4 fouls and Horns did not drive the lane to foul him out.
    Why not???

Does Terry deserve the job? What say you? My only question is...can he recruit?

We missed Disu for sure. But Horns played 33 minutes without him and maintained a double digit lead by playing great defense and moving without the ball/ making the extra pass on offense
We stopped playing great disciplined defense and started fouling because we got slow on defense.
A time out to regroup might have helped.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Had to listen to the game on the radio..... I'm just stunned how the Horns lost that game. It sounded like Carr going out really helped with their run. Horns were not the same after that?

That and more. Miami kept the energy up, but the Horns flagged a little bit, which resulted in turnovers and missed shots.

I wish Coach Terry would remove himself from consideration so "the coach" can be hired. Someone who "deserves" the long term contract and huge salary that will come with it. This is a situation he clearly can not win.

Someone who knows the rules should chime in. I thought Cunningham’s play was a classic box out, moving the player out of his position with his butt. I believe that play, perhaps more than any other, changed the game.

    Was it the correct call?

With the way the game was being called, any contact in Miami offensive end foul on Texas or no call if the Miami player driving the ball pushed the Texas defender or turned the corner by using the off arm to impede the defender, contact on Texas offensive end whistle swallowed. Texas had to hit three’s down the stretch to overcome that and they didn’t. Not sure why the offense ran through Allen as he did not have a matchup advantage. Maybe Carr was slowed enough by the injury to not be able to run the offense. In my opinion Texas lost composure because they could not play defense without a foul being called. If Miami doesn’t get the refs calling a similar gsme game against UConn, I think UConn will win easily.

I don’t think you can go under someone. Similar to having to give shooter room to land. I thought it was a foul and unnecessary for Cunningham to backup under him, but I’m no expert.

It looked like Cunningham had position initially and when the Miami player left his feet Cunningham went back because the bulk of the Miami player wan’t there. Cunningham didn’t jump at all. If he had it would have been over the back. As it was it gave the appearance that he moved under the Miami player. No way the officials were going to call a 50-50 call for Texas.

Fair enough. Let's also see what other programs beats down his door to offer him a long term contract. If he's that good then a bidding war is in order. The clock starts now

That may be true, but he was not call for going over the back ( a foul) most of the 2nd half. As BON state, It. Was had to overcome Miami and the refs.

The game turned when the refs made to blocking fouls on us that appeared to be offensive fouls.

    look at the FT differences

There were 2 blocking fouls that were the right call. They were dumb decisions by the defender. Instead of moving their feet and completing the play they tried to take the easy way out. But there were 2 blocks that were clean that were called for fouls and countless other bad calls. I think that demoralized Texas a bit. Instead of keeping their heads they got sloppy on offense too. Plus the coach didn't respond to Miller never missing a shot. You have to get the ball out of his and Wong hands. Those two guys won the game for Miami. Terry didn't adjust. Ball game.
