On the other side of the coin, I sure hope it's not one of our players hitting the portal!

I had not seen anything out there linking us to Endyia Rogers (other than Blair following her on Instagram). For a player like her who has been a starter all 4 seasons in college, I'd assume she'd want nothing less in her final season.

 

She and Rori would both start together for us... trust me.

Denae Fritz from ISU to Baylor. Good addition imo. Collen filling out her roster nicely.

 

Baylor is definitely going to have some quality depth with experience next season. They're starting to look pretty good on paper.

 

So, here it is…Jewel Spear rumored to be in the portal out of Wake Forest. I’m too lazy to copy the social media reports. They’re out there.

 

Right on queue. Blair Schaefer started following Spear on Instagram. So has Coach Lovato

 

She is a must get if impact player was a player it’s her and I would go on a limb to say she is the number one or 2 transfer. She was on a bad team and single handed kept WF relevant. I would pull out all the stops cause she already fits how we play, she’s a certified bucket, & she from Texas. Get it done please. She could be the piece we missing.

Spear is an absolute must get! Vic and the staff need to roll out the red carpet to get her to Texas!

 

Man, all of these transfers. SMH. I get it, but still. I really feel for the coaches. What do they do? I mean everyone is transferring. All Amer, starters, non-starters, bench warmers, top scorers. No one is satisfied. Surely not everyone is unhappy and chasing NIL deals. I know there are NIL deals but I know there are not 100+ deals for all the young ladies in the portal.

NIL and one free transfer has opened pandora's box. I didn't anticipate it would be this bad. I wonder if the coaches and recruiting staff are looking into a players past and checking for transfer tendencies. Are they checking to see if they attended 3 high schools or 6 AAU teams during their high school years?

Suggestion to help this pandora box that is now open: What about the coaches can select 3 players in each class to become Franchise Players and they must commit to 4 years? Sounds crazy I know!?!? But what are the coaches going to do? If a Franchise player wants to transfer no ball for 24 months from first semester at their new school unless they have graduated. So if they receive a degree in 3 years, their Senior year/grad year they can transfer.

I think the students will soon realize that the transfer portal is great for the top 10-15% but below that you will probably end up paying for your own college education. I can't wait to see the stats from this year's portal and compare it to last year's portal numbers.

 

Obviously, we all want Spear to come to Texas. Her late entry into the portal (compared to other earlier entrants) is one reason why I'm glad our coaching staff appears to have been very selective with their targets. Those of you panicking the last couple of weeks over our lack of transfer additions should be grateful we didn't fill up already!

I mean, Baylor is pretty much full after adding like 4-5 transfers.

Oh wow!!!!! That is THE one for us above all others.

 

Spear played at The Colony just up the road. I only saw her play once in high school and it was obvious she was a difference maker. Lots of discussion about wanting her, but can’t remember if she ever really considered Horns. Hope she wants to come home to Texas. And now, there is a new In-n-Out joint in The Colony. Nuff said.

 

She is the one I've been wanting for two years. I tuned in to WF games just so I could watch her play. She is THE perfect fit.

Edit: Tuned into WF games just so I could watch her play and wish that she would transfer to us.

 

She did receive an offer from Aston; believe she attended one of our camps, but not positive. Trying to find which schools she officially visited back then, but no luck yet.

 

@Moooooo you and I have been tracking her pretty closely for some time now. I figure you would be as excited as I would to land her.

 

Bout to find out how deep those NIL pockets are if we go after her. Worth it

Coach Wisdom-Hylton and Rori Harmon also started following Jewel on Instagram from what I can see; hope it's accurate (recent like today); perhaps even before Lovato and Blair started following her.

 

She attended a football game in 2017. There are photos of the visit in the 2020 Recruiting thread.

 

Obviously, we have a new coaching staff from the one who recruited her out of high school; maybe that's a good thing as she didn't end up visiting officially.

On the other hand, Mississippi State (and Vic) wasn't a finalist either.

 

Brnjk, just a real quick search reveals she helps us tremendously with 3 point shooting and free-throw shooting. How is her on-ball pressure perimeter defense in your view?
