We actually took the ferry this time. It was pretty rocky but reasonably good. The ferry is early '90s decor but clean and roomy. They have food and beer, and I got a mess is champagne for dirt cheap from the duty free shop. I have taken the Chunnel before. Pretty uninteresting. You drive onto a train, and it zips you across. Nothing to see. Furthermore, it doesn't save you that much time, because you have to check in earlier and costs a lot more. Also, you have to take the Chunnel from Calais, France. That city is a total **** hole - filthy, lots of thuggish "migrants" loitering around staring into cars, and underaged hookers. Didn't want to bring my kid around that.
