It looks like TCU lucked out because Indiana State couldn't host this weekend (because of a conflict in hosting the state's Special Olympics competition). Assuming they beat Indiana State (and TCU looks like one of the hottest teams in the tournament right now), they then would get the winner of Oregon (a 2-seed) and Oral Roberts (a 4-seed) in their first game at the CWS. It's going to sicken me if we see the frogs contending for a natty in another major sport this year.
Did they really contend for one already? For football, it could be argued they weren't in contention from the first snap.
TCU was a pretender not a contender for a football natty. When they finally played an SEC team, they got blistered into frog guano.
The Frogs have really pulled a rabbit out of the hat—with the help of the level of luck that usually only flows to Notre Dame. They just hung around the middle of the pack all year long, but ignited at playoff time. Good for them, and more good luck to them—unless and until they play us.
Sour grapes! The Froggies got there, which no other team managed to do. Where were those recruiting classes ranked for the previous 3-4 years? Patterson & Sonny developed and improved the talent, and THEY GOT THERE! Was Bama there? Where was Ohio State? How about USC? LSU? Clemson? OU? State Penn? Whether you think they "belonged" or not, THEY WERE THERE! There are plenty of "experts" that think they got there on coaching, including some of our BMDs. Again, TCU WAS THERE, no one else was. My hats off to Sonny & the boys.
Wow, SH, I did not know you were Sonny Dykes' mother. They had a good run, but Sonny is a career .500 coach. I doubt he turned into the 2nd coming of Nick Saban overnight. If they can get back there again, that will be the proof in the pudding. Until then, I agree they had a great year, but it was just one year.
I clearly should have chosen my words more carefully. If TCU makes it to the championship series in Omaha, it will still sicken me, even if they get blown out (unless of course it's us blowing them out).
Wow. Some of you folks hate everyone but us. I like TCU ok, when they're not playing us. As for me, obviously I don't like any opponent when they're playing us. But when they're playing somebody else, here's how I generally feel about various teams: Strongly dislike Strongly dislike Utter disgust Utter disgust Don't like them Don't like them Mild-to-moderate dislike Laugh at them Mixed feelings Don't care for their football, like them a little bit in other sports (the opposite of UH) Like their football; currently annoyed by their NY Yankees--like NIL attempts to buy the best baseball team. Slightly like them Like them Like them Like them Like them (nice run in baseball this year Jacks! ) TEXAS STATE Like them
If you read the pundits during the pre-season, you might have thought the NCAA should have cancelled the college baseball season or something. Just hand the trophy to LSU--since it was so obvious they were going to win it anyways.
SAM — like em, but prefer SFA in that rivalry UTSA — don’t really care, but they have an outstanding pitcher who should Portal to us during the off-season. U Conn — I don’t care one way or the other. A mostly nice State though. Superior to NJ or RI.
For me, a TCU with strong athletics programs is upsetting to the balance of the universe (especially when they happen to make a stronger showing than us, in any sport). It’s just not supposed to happen, and I find it unsettling.
Chop, I hope you never experience UConn fans particularly on their home turf. They make Ohio State look like a meeting of the Baptist Women's Union or the Okies look like a Cub Scout meeting. Beyond deplorable and could teach longshoremen how to hyphenate words. A woman is lucky to be called "*****".
As long time Tarrant County resident I have a ton of friends who went to TCU and a soft spot in my heart for them if they aren’t playing Texas. They gave us CDC which is best hire Texas has made in decades and although like all fan bases they have their share of idiots, for the most part they are a fun group. Lupton is also a great stadium to catch a ballgame at.
Klecker on the mound for TCU. We rocked that guy. Nice hit and run by the Sycamores. Man on 2nd. 2 away.
Big hit by TCU! Play at the plate... He's OUT! Triple, but the runner was gunned down at the plate. Excellent relay throw. Good tough blocking by the ISU Center, I mean Catcher. 0-0 still.
