While working out 6 days ago I got a very small piece of brick in my eye. Tried to flush it right away. I know I scratched my eyeball, but the dang thing still hurts. It feels like it's still in there but I'm almost positive it's out by now. I thought eyes heal quickly but this is still annoying and scratchy.
I does take a few days, especially if you scratched it. A number of years ago I got a paint chip stuck in my eye that the Dr. had to use a hypodermic needle to flick out. They put those drops in my eye that make your eyes glow under a black light to better see the chip. Anyway, after removal of the chip I was required to wear a patch for 5 days and use an antibiotic ointment. You might want to see a Dr. if it still bothering you.
eyes heal pretty fast. got my cornea scratched playing basketball. after the topical pain reliever wore off (from doc visit right aterwards), I could not open it at all for the rest of the day. Next morning it felt better (think I wore a patch to work) and then the day after was pretty much approaching normal. I had to put some sort of lubricant on my eye before going to sleep so the lid would not stick to scratch.
This happened to me a number of times playing sports. Go to a minor med center and get some pain killing drops in your eye. Then patch up. Eyes heal very fast but yours won't if you don't patch it. The abrasive action of your eyelid will keep it from healing quickly unless you patch it.
How do you know a small piece isn't still stuck in there? And are you just hoping it isn't going to get infected? If you've got insurance, I'd go get it checked out.
How did you get brick in there to begin with? Do you juggle bricks or maybe break some with your head? Were you hitting bricks with numchuks? Throwing stars?
Do you weear shirts when you stomp your leathery foot on the ground, cap'n? You know that you cannot rush good pizza and you need to ask for the specials.
Also, if anybody were to throw a coke at you, only one eye would burn if you did not close it in time. It also reduces the aim of any gaycials tossed in your direction.
