Looks like I've got a bad EGR valve sensor on my truck. Apparently, Mazda B3000's and Ford Rangers are notorious for this thing going out around 50K miles causing the check engine light (code401) to come on along with other symptoms that I have.

Anyways, this thing is easy as **** to replace but I do have a parts question. I see on several websites selling this part that it gives me a couple of options to chose from.....

    KEM $105.39
    EGR VALVE SENSOR
    OE# F7UE-9J460-AA

    STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS $64.37
    EGR VALVE POSITION SENSOR
    #F7UE-AA

Are these 2 the same thing....just one is cheaper than the other? Do I even go with the cheap one, or get the KEM?

    Hookem in advance!

If you post the year, model and cab type information, I will look it up on my shop information program. There are several parts to the EGR system, though, and the EGR valve is just one of them. The valve can be bad, but the vacuum supply to the valve can be bad, or the electrical signal to the valve could be lacking, or the tube in the manifold under the valve could be carboned up and need cleaning.
If you know this model tends to need the valve itself, then that is good information, and is the most likely cause. But you still could be wasting your money on that part if one of the other items is the fault.
We start with checking to see if the valve holds vacuum-if it leaks, we replace it, as it is bad, even if something else is bad also. Then we take the valve off and see if the plunger is stuck (you can push it up and down). They get carboned up. You can clean it with brakekleen if it is stuck, and it might work without replacing it. Then we start testing the other stuff, or cleaning the port the valve sits on top of, if it looks carboned up.

The part is the IDPF sensor (EGR valve position sensor).

This sensor has been widely known to fail all the time in Rangers and B3000s at 50-60Kmiles causing a code401with the check engine light. When it fails it'll cause the value to remain slightly shut or wide open. In my case, slightly shut, (insufficient air flow) which causes slight acceleration fluxes and some knocking at low speeds.

Removing the ERG and cleaning it is easy as well as the valve can become stuck. I've done this, but the check engine light is still one. I'm betting it's the sensor since it's been a widely reported problem with this vehicle right at 50K miles
