30% off Dimension desktops of $999 or more
40% off Dimension desktops of $2499 or more

    8 AM - 8 PM (CST)

Probably the biggest deals will be on the gaming/multimedia systems since you will be able to knock off at least a grand.

Where (locally) is a good place to find barebones computers built with quality components? I can do everything myself, but if there is a local shop that does good work I'd go with them.

what would be the advantage of getting a 48x cd-rw as opposed to getting a 16x DVD if you were also going to get a DVD + RW/+R in the other bay?

the 48x CD-ROM would be for quicker installs perhaps, or for applications which run from the CD. It's not near the problem it used to be, but CD-R and CD-RW technology used to be such that a burner couldn't read near as fast as a stand alone reader.

Well, I'd been meaning to get a computer for a long time, and this deal put me over the edge. I spent way more money than I should have, but I still had a graduation gift of a computer hanging over my head from my folks from 3 years ago, so i was able to cut my own personal contribution, but I think the setup I got will prob last me for the next 50 years. I am excited!

DMLonghorn - me, too. I have never had a personal computer. For the past 8 years I've had laptops from work that I'd take home. Before that I would either use my roommate's computer or the computer lab on campus. traffic,

i got almost the exact same thing, but upped the ram to 2 gb, upped the hard drive to 320 GB RAID. only minor differences from there. no way or i would have got the 20.1 in or the upped sound and video card without the discount. Again, way too much, but with 40% off, i just couldn't not do it!

DMLonghorn - yes, the TV tuner allows you to hook up a cable jack. It was a $99 upgrade. I've heard you can do this yourself aftermarket for around $50, but there's no way I would try that. (I'm sure I'd f*** it up.)

Bob Wills - closer to $1,800 (excluding taxes). But, w/ this monitor, audio setup, warranty, etc. - I couldn't find a better price for a comparable machine. I was looking at both HP and Sony for comparable machines but the price on this worked out best. (Plus, honestly, I was tired of waiting.)
