Ok, so I finally got my first ticket of my life today - 23 mph over the speed limit, so barely enough to be able to do DD.

Just wanted to get thoughts on if people prefer the class or doing it online, and what company or online service is the best.

    Thanks in advance.

Either way it is painful. I would pick online or Video tape if you can do it that way...at least it would be on your own time.

A couple of years ago I did the comedy defensive driving thing....******* PAINFUL!!!! Sitting there all day for 6 hours....f**k!!!

That's funny, I had the complete opposite experience.

Online was HORRIBLE (I got the one from Blockbuster Video).

The questions they asked almost had nothing to do with driving, and I actually took notes.

They would show the video and show things like someone driving to fast, running a stop sign, then ask you something stupid like what highway where they driving on (of course this is exaggerated).

You can only miss very few answers (I got 100 my wife missed 1) and it was NOT easy.

Find something in your location (I live south) and you should be fine.
I took Austin driving school (the one by Crockett high school) and other than being bored, it was easy.

I've taken it both ways and prefer on-line. It's not bad if you start early and do a little at a time. I also recommend having a magazine or something to keep you entertainted while you take the course. TEA mandates that the course be 6 hours long. So, both of the on-line coures that I took required to stay on each page for a certain length of time. That gets a little boring/tedious, but I still think it beats sitting on a metal chair in a hotel for 6 hours.

I am a student, so doing it in-person is easiest for me. I am used to sitting in an uncofortable chair and zoning out. If you can daydream like I can, then its fine.

Online defensive driving was horrid. That said, I imagine its still better than any of the other options.
