Sounds like something the entire westside grandstand at DKR would love.

Different football, but Manchester United are trying this @ their home games too...no first hand experiance, but from what I read it isnt a very popular decision. I cant Imagine not being allowed to stand during a game...seems that constant sitting would lead to less noise = less of a home field adv.

Man. As a Chiefs fan, I'm embarrassed.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I should be embarrassed by their poor record. But good fans stay true in rough times. Let's not forget that Texas fielded less than spectacular teams not too long ago.

I'm still a Chiefs fan, but this just sucks. Why not outlaw sitting? Just as reasonable to me. Either way, no one's view is obstructed. Unless you're short like me.

There's a big difference between standing with the crowd and blocking the view of others behind you. It's like a car going sixty when the traffic is going thirty- you're pissed at the crowd, but the crowd is against you. You cannot force a crowd to be more enthusiastic anymore than you can force traffic to move out of your way. Go with the flow, or you ARE the A-hole.

Interesting. Is cheering next? How about booing? Dr. Scholl must be rolling over in his grave right now.

Oh the fights that this is going to spawn...

"HEY! You in front. I realize that you've been slamming beers since 9:00am, and that you're upset because the Chiefs are losing, but you need to sit down, you're breaking the stadium rules!"

    From the writer:
"Awesome. I hear they're even taking the extra step and including bed pans with every seat, so no one has to get up to use the bathroom. They're going to make the beer and peanut vendors crawl through the stadium on all fours. Also, as soon as you get to your seat and sit down, an usher's going to come by and inject you with a temporary paralytic."

From a poster responding to the article:
" MJD- you are obviously a jerk. It is about time that someone had the sense enough to make such a rule. As a fan, I pay a lot of money to WATCH a game at the stadium- NOT to look at the backside of some idiot in front of me. The people who just have to ruin the game for others should have their own section of the stadium to sit. Let the other paying customers enjoy the game that they pay to SEE. Someone should inject your mouth with a temporary paralytic."

He sounds like someone at DKR.

At DKR last year for the crappy Arky St. game my friend and I were given tickets to sit about 30 rows up from the 35 yard line. Prime seats, but also in the middle of the blue-hair sea. It was the first game and I was up cheering for the Horns. This guy behind me starts giving me **** about standing up. I tell him he's allowed to stand up to and it's actually preferred to sitting from the "let's try to win" perspective. He sits for a few more minutes and then the next thing I know the guy is right next to my head screaming as loud as he can straight into my ear. I swear I almost laid the dude out in front of his kid.

My point is, and it's something we all know being UT fans: its a damned travesty that the worst fans are the ones that can afford the best seats. Truly truly a travesty.

I ignore people who tell me to sit down. The space in my seat from the ground to the sky is mine so it's my right to stand and ignore fans would should be in luxury suites or @ home.

Common sense would solve these problems, but most people lack same. I don't mind standing up, and do so often, but if someone thinks they have to show their undying devotion to the Horns by standing all the time, that is irritating.
If everybody is standing, stand up, and if everybody sits down, sit down. Have a clue, in other words.
If there is an entire section where one person is standing, exactly what is the point?
But if the row in front of he is standing, don't gripe about me standing, because I will-or if there is an exciting play, whatever.
I have told people the game is on television when they tell me to sit down, many times. But sometimes, I want to sit down, too, not being of aggy persuasion.

I stand when I want to stand, and sit when I want to sit. If either team is inside the 20, or it's 3rd down, or 2nd and short, I will probably be standing. Sometimes I will stand until the game is well in hand. This is irrespective of whether people are standing in front of me. And, I really could care less if I am the only person standing in my section. I'm actually somewhat oblivious too it because I am caught up in what is happening on the field. Honestly, I can't believe true fans would sit just because some rich old person wants them to sit.

On the other hand, if I go to an Astro's game, I may sit even if the Astro's hit a home run and everyone was standing and all I could see was the back of the guy in front of me. The difference - I'm not an Astro's fan, I just happened to have some tickets fall in my lap.

Attending a game in person compels fans to participate in the game-day environment. If you don't want to be part of that environment, watch the game on TV.

    that article is an abortion.

the Conduct Code does not say:

    • Standing and/or obstructing the view of other fans

    it says:

    • Excessive Standing and/or obstructing the view of other fans

    no different than anywhere else.
