FIrst of all sorry if this is the wrong place to be putting this, but is anyone else going to the Westwood vs Lake Travis game on Friday? I am going and looking forward to seeing Westwood (i'm an alum), and Lake Travis (Garrett Gilbert ofcourse!). Should be a good game, haven't seen gilbert play in person yet, but I am looking forward to a little warmup to the FAU game on Saturday. 2 games in 2 days! Can't wait! My prediction: Lake Travis- 35 WW- 21 Hope Gilbert has a great game, hope my old school plays them tough.
My kid graduated from Westwood last year. My son plays for Canyon Vista and will attend Westwood next year. As to Westwood hanging with Lake Travis, I'll believe it when I see it. Westwood, great academics, great coach, not so much athletics..... If Gilbert lights 'em up I won't be disappointed or surprised. Oh yeah, to answer your question, we'll be there. The entire Canyon Vista MS team is going. Though all the rooms may be gone, there was a Westwood booster club rate at the Riverwalk Marriott for $99.
LT 02 here...go Cavs! Gilbert is even more amazing to watch in person, he is the real deal. Saw him last year in the State Championship game and against Westlake.
i went to LT from pre-K-9th and then moved to Westwood where i graduated. since westwood doesn't have a chance in hell to do **** yet again, i'll be pulling for the Cavs and hope they repeat. won't be at this game, but i'll be at the LT/Westlake game.
Yeah I am riding down with the girlfriends family. Girlfriends little sister is in sun dancers. Her little brother plays football at canyon vista. We are tailgating somewhere with somoene, I don't know who, but it should be fun. There are a lot of WW alums here! Good to see, girlfriend also went to westwood she was class of 04.
Why would 2 austin area teams go to SA to play? Is the AlamoDome paying them off or something? DO they really expect to draw more than 20,000 or so?
Year before last UT admission showed more Westwood grads entered UT than any other HS in TX save Plano.

Just got back to Austin from the game. 27-20 Cavs won. Just a few thoughts- Garrett Gilbert had 3 td passes tonight, made good decisions and had a strong arm. Threw a 50 yard bomb from 50 yard line into endzone in second quarter for td. Gilbert didn't have to run much, had good protection all night (Kelly looked good) but when he did run he looked pretty mobile. His receiver #4 McCrary (sp?) was a stud, they seemed on the same page and all 3 td passes were to him. For us WW alums, Princeton Collins was GOOD. He had one fumble where he flapped the ball around, but other than that he showed good speed and a great ability to break tackles. LT controlled the game the whole night, the Warriors got a rally going and pulled within 7 with 3 minutes left. WW stopped LT on third down with 1:30 left, but after the stop a WW player received an unsportsmanlike penalty, automatic first down and kneel time for LT. Sad way to end the game, WW played tough. Grab. had happy feet but improved towards the end of the game. Warriors need to work on getting open in the passing game, but overall did better than expected. LT played well on defense getting quite a bit of pressure, and Mccrary was a stud. The RB #27? looked pretty good, but as expected in first game were not overwhelming. Good game for Gilbert, made great decisions all night and threw to the right place. Entertaining game!
