    94,113

According to Deloss Dodds, this is the official capacity of the newly expanded stadium. This does not include the 4,000~ temporary stands in the SEZ. So 98,113 seating capacity. If you add in concession personnel, security folks, ticket takers & admin., facilities folks, etc. the attendance for this opener will be approx. 99,000, maybe more.

This opener vs. FAU be the largest crowd to ever attend a football game in Texas and in the Southern US.

The attendance for the Arky game may well go over 100,000.

I think those of you going to the FAU game are going to be very surprised and amazed at how much LOUDER the stadium is going to be with the NEZ now fully enclosed and the LHB in the temp stands in the SEZ facing the north. It will be very tough for the visitors. Can you imagine how loud the TEXAS! - FIGHT! will be? I hope some of you going to the game will post back here about what you experienced and thought.

On the downside, it won't take a lot of effort to make too much noise for the UT O to have some trouble hearing plays. We don't need that. I think most of our fans know not to cheer just prior to the O running a play. In fact, we may see a lot of no-huddle offense with this new 40 second clock rule. Regardless, McChiles will be calling audibles with or without no-huddle - so we need the O players to be able to hear the plays.

    Hook 'Em!!!

It was my understanding that the 94,113 does include the 4,000 seats in the temporary SEZ. with media, vendors, sideline passes, etc. the actual attendance could be as high as 98,000. Nowhere have i seen 100,000.

But who's quibbling. It's going to be allsome!

    1. We hereby accept Tennessee as a southern state.
    2. Factual corrections are perfectly acceptable.

The South does not constitute everything south of the Mason Dixon Line. Maryland, Delaware, and Washington DC should never be considered to be a part of the South.

East Tennessee should be included in this group. Going back to the War of Northern Aggression, East Tennessee (Knoxville) called for a secession from the state and the South. Different culture out there -- bunch of scalawags.

Sorry man, when you get snow in winter, you aint in the south.

94,113 includes the bleachers in the sez. We will not hit 100,000 tomorrow.

Well, I didn't know what he meant, and I think AstroVol is correct. I don't know why pointing out a factual error is a problem.

Regardless, there's going to be a lot of people there tomorrow. And that's a great thing. Can't we all just agree on these two points and get along? [IMG]

Clarification: No disrespect meant toward U. Tenn. / Neyland Stadium. If the MD line defines the traditional South, then Neyland has the largest capacity at 109K. I probably should have said Southwest, which traditionally would NOT include the state of Tenn.

Re: capacity of DKR, it was my understanding the 94,113 did NOT include the temp bleachers, but I could be wrong.

Regardless, Sat. DKR will be rockin' and louder than it has ever been for the fOwls who think TEXAS is just a word!

"Los Angeles would be considered a part of the Southwest"

I believe the answer is no. Arizona is considered Southwest and Calif is considered West / West Coast. I think few would describe LA or Southern Calif. as Southwest, but some might.
