I'm tired of the Obama/McCain BS. I am hoping that I can generate some chatter regarding the extremely important races for the Texas House.

I live in District 102 (Lake Highlands, N. Dallas) and I think that Tony Goolsby, running for a 11th term, is going down. Goolsby squeaked by in 2006. Carol Kent his dem challenger has good funding and support. Considering the presence of Obama on the national ticket, I think that a greater percentage of dems will turnout for Obama than they did for Chris Bell (ha). Not to mention Goolsby just doesn't seem to be running that hard. Put it together I see 102 as a loss for the GOP.

Please discuss your legislative races! The media is not covering this.

I live in conservative hell...lubbock, not even a powerful duststorm could blow a dem to DC. Maybe...maybe put a dem on a tortilla out of Jones Stadium and they have a chance

I live in Sam Johnson's district. (Plano) I think there is a Democrat running against him this year, but I don't think the race will be competitive.

I don't have a passionate feeling about anyone on the statewide or legislative level, however, in 2010, there is a State Senator that I would like to see defeated, Sen. John Carona of Richardson. I'm not even in his district, but as a member of a metroplex HOA, I understand how Carona has helped rig the system for his own benefit. In his private life, he is CEO of Associa, the largest property management firm in the country. In his public life, his position in the State Senate has allowed him to write the most recent property law that governs how HOA's operate. Since almost all HOA contract with a management company, Carona's position as Senator & CEO is a huge conflict of interest. I'll donate to his opponent, even if its Billy Sol Estes, another well-known crook.

Super can't be here tonight, but he'd want me to mention two competitive races in his district- Dippel running for Cook's seat in 17, and Larry Joe Doherty running against McCaul.

Right now Dippel's got a real shot.

I think Kleinschmidt's going to win Cook's seat. He did pretty decent when he ran against Cook and that area is very rural which will most likely go heavily republican again.

I'm currently running for County Attorney in Williamson County as a Democrat (to the surprise of many of my long time friends). The only reason I decided to run was because I got so mad at the incompetence that was wasting my tax dollars.

My opponent has proven so unpopular and scandal-ridden that I'm enjoying unbelievable bi-partisan support.

All of you WilCo residents should read the front page article in today's Williamson County Sun, which implicates a number of incumbents involved in rather..questionable.. campaign financing. Yo can also learn more at our website:

    Lynn Campaign

I know another regular poster had filed to run for the Texas Supreme Court on the Libertarian ticket, but am not sure who it was. Maybe they'll chime in, too.

Wow, TxSt! As you probably know, I am a Pub... but I have never found your viewpoints too outlandishly liberal. So best of luck in November... is the reported turn of Wilco into a blue county proceeding as rumored?

I second the praise for TxStHorn. He's a great guy and will make a great WilCo County Atty. And I think he's got a damn good shot!

    Meh....

    I'm in Parker County...

There's not much in contention here...Hell, I doubt I see more than a few Democrats on the ballot...

But, it sucks that ALL the local politicians run on their record of going to church and being against abortion/gay marriage and then manage to put in a few blurbs about wtf they'd actually DO...it's retarded...they couldn't do anything about the social issues, anyways...

Kent would make a great State Rep. I sure hope she can pull it out. While I don't live in the district, I have known the Kent family for a long time and can get behind her as a moderate Dem.

Anybody have any thoughts on Larry Joe Dougherty? He's running for Congressional District 10 (NE Austin/Pflugerville to Katy)

I've met him a few times, and he seems pretty much like a conservative Democrat as well. But I know little about his particular race.

    I know he's a very staunch 2nd Amendment supporter. Which I like.

That is one strange district... from Lake Travis to Harris County.
